Objective: The clinicopathologic data of patients with left and right colorectal cancer were collected.Their serum bile acid was detected in the first hospitalization in order to find the possible correlation between bile acid metabolism and left and right colorectal cancerMethods: According to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria,528 patients in the oncology department of the first affiliated hospital of Nanjing medical university from April 2009 to November 2017 were included,and whose pathological diagnosis was colorectal cancer.We collected patients' medical records and fasting blood samples in their first hospitalization.We analyzed the clinical and pathological data characteristics of patients with left and right colorectal cancer in different stages and tabulated the results.We quantified 21 kinds of bile acids,analyzed the results with the stage of left and right colon cancer,and mapped the results.Results: 1.Clinical and pathological data: In 528 cases of colorectal cancer,373 cases of left colon cancer(including descending colon and sigmoid colon and rectum),155 cases of right half colon cancer,aged 20-82(57.18 + 11.271).The proportion of males in the left half(66.0%)was higher than that of females(34.0%),while the proportion of males and females in the right half was similar,P=0.001.The proportion of mucinous adenocarcinoma or sigmoid cell carcinoma in the left half was lower than that in the right half(15.5% VS 26.5%,P=0.004).There was no significant difference in stage,degree of differentiation,whether there was intravascular cancer,or whether there was neurological invasion.2.The testing results of bile acid: 2.1 the correlation between serum T-UDCA,G-CA,G-CDCA and its disease staging was statistically significant.(P < 0.05),and other indicators have nothing to do with disease staging in left colon cancer;2.2 the various serum bile acids in the right half of colon cancer were not related to the stage of disease;2.3 in a total of 528 cases of the samples,part of the patient's clinical blood test data(blood routine,biochemical function,tumor markers)was missed.There was no correlation between the results of the rest part and bile acid metabolism.Conclusion: In our study,left half colon cancer and gender were related,and the proportion of males was significantly higher than that of females.In the pathological types,there were more poor prognostic types in the right half colon cancer,such as mucinous adenocarcinoma or sigmoid cell carcinoma.The disease stage of the left half colon cancer is related to the levels of bile acid metabolism.The later stage of the disease,the more the bile acid accumulates.The disease stage of the right half colon cancer has nothing to do with the level of bile acid metabolism.Bile acids may be diagnostic markers for colon cancer.
