Objective:1.We would like to find possible rules under which Professor Zhou YaBin uses ChaihuLongguMuli Tang by analyzing medical records based on data mining.2.We would like to use our analysis as an example to show how to use association rules to dig out meaningful rules when all the treatments are based on one prescription. Methods:In this thesis,we use the medical records of the outpatients of Professor Zhou YaBin from May 2016 to September 2017.We select 261 patients who were treated on the basis of ChaihuLongguMuli Tang, and use their first medical records for analysis, which usually contain most complete information.First,we transform those medical records to the format of goods in shopping carts. Then,we find association rules with sufficient support based on the Apriori algorithm. After that,we select important association rules to present the rules under which Professor Zhou YaBin uses ChaihuLongguMuli Tang. How to select important association rules is the main issue in the thesis. We use independent sample t-test instead of confidence or lift, because the data are based on one single prescription.Results:1.Most of the considered patients are diagnosed as palpitation or thoracic obstruction based on traditional Chinese medicine. Most of their TCM syndromes are intermingled phlegm and qi,and lack of preservation of spirit. Most of their tongues are red, pink, red on tip,or dark red. Most of their tongue furs are white or thin. Most of their pulses are deep, thin,or weak.2.We find some association rules for medicines and symptons with high lift(p<0.05).Gansong,Kushen,and Xuanshan are for palpitation.Shouwuteng is for irritability.Yuanzhi,Suanzaoren,Fushen, and Shouwuteng are for slight insomnia, while Longgu,"less Huangqi" and "less Danshen" are for insomnia.Huangqi,Dangshen,Jiegeng, and Shenma are for shortness of qi,while shortness of qi and chest tightness are relevant to each other.Huangqi,Danshen,Jiegeng, and Shenma are for chest tightness and weakness, while chest tightness are also related to "less Cishi" and "less Longchi".Wumei is for perspiration.Fushen,Xiangfu, and Yuanhu are for back pain.Diziness is related to Juhua,"less Fushen","less Gansong",and "less Shouwuteng".3.The medicines can be clustered into eight groups based on the association rules.Medicines in group 1 are Yuanhu,Danshen,Chuanxiong,Juhua,Sanqi, and Shuizhi, among which exist 15 association rules.Medicines in group 2 are Xianfu,Yuanhu,Chuanlianzi,Muxian,Yujin,Hopu,Zhishi, and Fuxiaomai, among which exist 26 association rules.Medicines in group 3 are Longchi,Cishi,Hupo, and Zhenzhumu, among which exist 10 association rules.Medicines in group 4 are Yuanzhi,Suanzaoren,Fushen,Shouwuteng,Boziren, and Hehuanpi, among which exist 16 association rules.Medicines in group 5 are Gansong,Kushen, and Xuanshen, among which exist 6 association rules.Medicines in group 6 are Huangqi,Dangshen,Shenshaishen,Maidong,Wuweizi,Jiegeng, and Shenma, among which exist 16 association rules.Medicines in group 7 are Shanyao and Sharen, among which exist 2 association rules.Medicines in group 8 are Baizhu and Shendihuang, among which exist 2 association rules.Conclusion:1.Professor Zhou YaBin uses ChaihuLongguMuli Tang mostly for patients with palpitation or thoracic obstruction as their diagnoses, with intermingled phlegm and qi,and lack of preservation of spirit as their syndromes, and with deficiency of both vital energy and yin suggested by tongues and pulses.2.The primary kernel medicines in the prescriptions of Professor Zhou YaBin based on ChaihuLongguMuli Tang are Chaihu,Baishao,Banxia,Longgu,Muli,Huangqin,Dahuang,Gancao, and Guizhi,The secondary kernel medicines are Yuanzhi,Suanzaoren,Fushen,Shouwuteng, and Xianfu.3.When Professor Zhou YaBin uses ChaihuLongguMuli Tang,he tends to add medicines for different syndromes.Gansong,Kushen, and Xuanshan are added for palpitation.Shouwuteng is added for irritability.Yuanzhi,Suanzaoren,Fushen, and Shouwuteng are added for slight insomnia,Longgu is added for insomnia, but Huangqi and Danshen are used less frequently for insomnia.Huangqi,Dangshen,Jiegeng, and Shenma are added for shortness of qi,while shortness of qi and chest tightness tend to occur together.Huangqi,Danshen,Jiegeng, and Shenma are also added for chest tightness and weakness, while the use of Cishi and Longchi is reduced for chest tightness.Wumei is added for perspiration.Fushen,Xiangfu,Yuanhu are added for back pain.Juhua is added for dizziness, while Gansong,Fushen, and Shouwuteng are used less frequently.4.The medicines that Professor Zhou YaBin uses based on ChaihuLongguMuli Tang can be clustered in to eight groups.Medicines in group 1 are Yuanhu,Danshen,Chuanxiong,Juhua,Sanqi, and Shuizhi.Medicines in group 2 are Xianfu,Yuanhu,Chuanlianzi,Muxian,Yujin,Hopu,Zhishi, and Fuxiaomai.Medicines in group 3 are Longchi,Cishi,Hupo, and Zhenzhumu.Medicines in group 4 are Yuanzhi,Suanzaoren,Fushen,Shouwuteng,Boziren, and Hehuanpi.Medicines in group 5 are Gansong,Kushen, and Xuanshen.Medicines in group 6 are Huangqi,Dangshen,Shenshaishen,Maidong,Wuweizi,Jiegeng, and Shenma.Medicines in group 7 are Shanyao and Sharen.Medicines in group 8 are Baizhu and Shendihuang.5.From the association rules mined by Apriori and 2-sample T test,we can find some patterns based on which Professor Zhou YaBin considers the treatment, which implies that our method for analyzing treatments based on one prescription and few amount of data is feasible.
