The Effectiveness And Safety Of Ashi Point Punture And Six Lumbar Needles Technique For The Treatment Of Acute Myofascial Syndrome Of Quadratus Lumborum Muscle.A Randomized Clinical Trial

Target:A test with randomized character,was applied to analyze the efficacy and safety of 1)The treatment with an unique and simple needling of a specific ashi point,and 2)The traditional acupuncture technique "Six lumbar needles"(腰六针).This when the muscle Quadratus Lumborum is the responsible for acute low back pain with irradiation though sacro iliac joint and buttock.Myofascial lumbar syndrome.Method:A total of 40 patients were divided into 2 groups of 20 persons each,with a randomly division.The patients should met inclusion criteria.The treatment group(one puncture in ashi point)and control group(Chinese medicine standard treatment "six lumbar needles"[腰六针]).The ashi point group was treated with simple puncture in ashi point after a very specific checking for find it.The six lumbar needles group was healed with the traditional combination of acupuncture.Points:shen shu,qi hai shu,da chang shu,yao yan,huan tiao,bai huan shu,plus a selection of points according to the diagnoses diferenciation of TCM.Treatment technique was applied for five minutes every time,once a day,every two days for one week.Six lumbar needles group was treated for twenty minutes every time,once a day,every two days for one week.The Japanese orthopedic association(JOA)was employed as the main evaluation index.The efficacy of both treatment methods was evaluated by comparing the parameters before and after treatment in each group.Comparing the adverse reaction that some cases presents in both two groups,it was analyzed the safety of both treatments.Results:about the basic data(age,storical record,sex),JOA and VAS evaluation between the two groups,before treatment,had no considerable difference(p>0,05).The difference between before and after treatment,in JOA and VAS scale,has important statistic significance(p<0.01),Between the two groups,the cases of adverse had no important statistic difference(p>0,05).Conclusion:The results of this study showed that both treatment,ashi point and six lumbar needles,are effective and safe method of treatment for acute lumbar pain related with quadratus lumborum.But ashi point treatment showed subtly more efficacy.Both treatment have similar clinical effectiveness,therefor this kind of syndrome can be treated in clinic with both techniques,although ashi point treatment showed faster and more efficient results.
