Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of Mepitel Film in the prevention and treatment of acute radioactive skin injury in advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma,it was expected to provide a new method for the prevention and treatment of acute radioactive skin injury in the future.Methods One hundred and twenty patients with advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma from October 2014 to November 2016 who received volumetric modulated arc therapy(VMAT)in Aahui Provincial Cancer Hospital were randomized divided into Mepitel Film group,biafine group and control group,40 cases in each group.The occurrence rate,the grade of acute radioactive skin injury and the degree of skin pain in radiation field were assessed among the three groups.Results At different irradiation doses,there were statistically significant differences in occurrence rate of acute radioactive skin injury between the Mepitel Film group and control group(?2=22.300,P<0.05),the differences in occurrence rate of acute radioactive skin injury between the biafine group and control group were statistically significant(?2=8.450,P<0.05),however,there was no statistically significant difference between the Mepitel Film and biafine group(?2=6.174,P>0.05).The time of acute radioactive skin injury occurrence in Mepitel Film or biafine group was significantly delayed compare with control group.After radiotherapy,the grade of acute radioactive skin injury in Mepitel Film group was lower than biafine group or control group,the differences were statistically significant(Z=-2.486,-5.765,P<0.05).The grade of acute radioactive skin injury in biafine group was also lower than control group,the differences were statistically significant(Z=-3.912,P<0.05).The degree of skin pain in radiation field in Mepitel Film group was lighter than biafine group or control group,the differences were statistically significant(Z=-2.017,-3.728,P<0.05).The degree of skin pain in biafine group was also lighter than control group,the differences were statistically significant(Z=-2.001,P<0.05).There was no adverse reaction occurred such as allergic reaction during the whole research project between the Mepitel Film group and biafine group.Conclusions Mepitel Film can delay the time of acute radiation skin injury occurrence in patients with advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma,significantly reduce the grade of acute radioactive skin injury,effectively prevent the occurrence of severe acute radiation skin injury,and relieve the degree of skin pain in radiation field,also improve the quality of life and ensure the radiotherapy smoothly.Mepitel Film is more advantageous than the traditional external use of biafine in reducing the grade of acute radioactive skin injury and relieving the degree of skin pain in radiation field.The use of Mepitel Film is safe,convenient and comfortable.It is worthy of clinical popularization and application.
