Objective:To investigate the correlation between radiosensitivity and acute radiation response in nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma(NPSCC).Methods:Seventy-three patients with nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma(NPSCC)diagnosed by pathology and treated by radiotherapy and chemotherapy in our hospital were collected.General clinical data of each case were collected. Before radiotherapy, localized CT was performed, and the volume of primary tumors, lymph nodes and parotid glands was measured by delineating the target area.)Localized CT was performed again to calculate the retraction rate of tumors.During the course of treatment, patients received five radiotherapy sessions.According to RTOG acute radiation injury grading criteria, acute radiation reaction was observed, followed up,graded until the end of treatment, and then returned to the hospital in January after the end of treatment. To analyze the influence of general clinical data on tumor retraction rate during radiotherapy;to analyze the correlation between tumor retraction rate and acute radiation response;to analyze the correlation between parotid gland volume reduction and salivary gland injury. Results:Univariate analysis showed that T stage, initial tumor volume(cm~3)were negatively correlated with tumor retraction rate(%)(P=0.039,P=0.048),lymph node retraction rate(LN)was negatively correlated with tumor retraction rate(P=0.039,P=0.048).Multivariate analysis further showed that the time of T stage or the size of initial tumor volume(cm~3)were the main influencing factors of tumor shrinkage(%)and were negatively correlated(P=0.036).In the study of acute radiation response, the degree of mucosal injury, parotid gland shrinkage(%)and tumor shrinkage(%)were the main influencing factors of tumor shrinkage(%).There was a positive correlation(P<0.05).Further studies on the correlation between the degree of dry mouth and taste changes caused by salivary gland injury and parotid gland shrinkage(%)showed no significant correlation(P>0.05).Conclusion:T stage and initial tumor volume(cm~3)were the main influencing factors of tumor shrinkage(%).With the increase of tumor shrinkage(%),the degree of mucosal injury and parotid gland were affected. The shrinkage rate(%)also increased, but there was no correlation between the degree of dry mouth and taste changes caused by salivary gland injury and the parotid gland shrinkage rate(%).
