| Background: Periodontitis is a major risk factor for adults in teeth loss.It is to believe that in recent researches and study that periodontitis not only does it affects the local periodontal tissues,it can also damage causes harm towards other human systems and tissues,which can lead to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases,respiratory diseases,diabetes and other confinding factors;on the countrary,periodontitis treatment can also be imcomplicated due to systemic diseases such as immune dysfunction,diabetes,osteoporosis,etc.It is now proved that periodontitis can however affect our general health,and has drawn attentions from all over the world including medical experts,oral medicines and more.At presen ts,Chinese medicine have spent decads on treating oral diseases and understanding its etiology,treatment and preventions.It's proved that a larger number of studies and achievement are carried with success.In this study,we apply Compound Ba Zhen Tang for treating periodontitis has shown great promises.Coupound Ba Zhen Tang composed of: Astragalus,Angelica,natural copper,Atractylodes,Chuanxiong,white peony root,Scutellaria,Poria,Drynaria,licorice,Patients with servere gingival bleeding and mobility need to add Huang Lian,Xia assess grass,honeysuckle.Objective: To understand the effect of Compound Ba Zhen Tang in patients undertaking periodontitis treatmentMethods: In a 3 years period,Cases were s elected from August 2014-August 2017,Those patients admitted to our dental clinic with periodontitis and well-controlled diabetes(blood glucose are controlled at 80 ~ 130 mg / dl,after meals 2 hours 80 ~ 160 mg / dl,glycosylated hemoglobin 7% or less),patients.A total of 200 cases with no serious heart problem,lung diseases,kidney disease.Patients were divided into 2 groups,study group(odd numbers)and control group(even numbers)by order of patient admission number.The study group consists of 100 patients,50 males and 50 females;aged 50 to 55 years,mean(51.9 ± 1.71)years;periodontits duration of 4 months to 7 years,an average of(3.6 ± 0.5)years.The control group consists of 100 patients,including 50 males and 50 females;aged 50-55 years,mean(52 ± 1.71)years of age;periodontitis duration: 4 months to 7 years,an average of(3.6 ± 0.5)years.There will be no confinding factors influencing the results,as the patients criteria of age,sex,level of disease are all similar.Both groups of patients were given conventional peri odontitis treatment such as oral scalling,root planning and antibiotic(metronidazole)treatment.However,the study group were given an extra Chinese medicine,Compound Ba Zhen Tang decoction for 3 months period.Compound Ba Zhen Tang composition: Astragalus,Angelica,natural copper,Atractylodes,Chuanxiong,white peony root,Scutellaria,Poria,Drynaria,licorice.Gingival bleeding plus Rhizoma Imperatae,Rubia.Examination factors are: color,volume,shape,texture,biotype of the gingival;bleed on p robing,plaque index;Results: Chinese medicine Compound Ba Zhen Tang Decoction study group patients shows great promises with periodontitis symptoms significantly improved after treatment in comparison with the control group;plaque index for study group(40.17 ± 5.28),compared with the control group(41.4 ± 5.18)significantly reduced(p <0.05).The probing depth for study group(3.37 ± 0.89)was significantly less than the control group(3.87 ± 1.25)(p <0.05).The bleeding index of the probe was significantly higher in the control group(35.7 ± 4.03)than in the study group(33.8 ± 4.18)(p <0.05).The loss of clinical attachment in the control group(2.73 ± 0.74)was significantly higher than that in the study group(2.37 ± 0.69)(p <0.05).Conclusion: The use of Compound Ba Zhen Tang Decoction in the treatment of periodontitis can enhance the stimulation of periodontal local tissue regeneration and reduce the damage to the periodontal local tissue caused by inflammation.Due to the newly discovery of u sing this medicine,data and it's other effects are still to be found and researched. |
