Objective:This study aimed to investigate the advantages and safety of enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)in treating primary liver cancer through open liver resection within the perioperative period.Methods:forty-eight patients with primary liver cancer admitted from January 2015 to December 2017 were designated to ERAS group(n=24)and control group(n=24)by according to the clinical data.Patients in ERAS group received perioperative management directed by ERAS concept, while those in control group underwent conventional perioperative management. The main clinical variables between the two groups of patients were compared. Results:The general perioperative data of the two groups of patients showed no significant difference(all P>0.05).There were no significant differences in operative time, intraoperative blood loss, time of clamping porta hepatis, and postoperative complications between the two groups of patients, but the time to drainage tube removal, time to urine tube removal and length of postoperative hospital stay in ERAS group were all significantly superior to those in control group(all P<0.05).In the postoperative first day,the serum albumin of enhanced recovery after surgery group were significantly higher than traditional treatment group.Although The cost of hospitalization was lower in the ERAS group than in the control group, the two groups of patients showed no significant difference(all P>0.05).Conclusion:Using ERAS therapy in perioperative management of liver cancer resection is safe and effective, and it can accelerate the postoperative recovery of the patients. Thus,ERAS should be considered in clinical practice.
