Research On Facial Feature Of Five Elements Constitutions Of College Students By Three-dimensional Imaging Technology

Objective:Using three-dimensional imaging techniques to measure the facial features of the human head in three-dimensional image,to explore the relevance of five elements constitutions and facial features,it can provides objective parameters for the identification of the five elements people,and to develop new methods for clinical observation.Methods:1.This research digs out theories about the constitution in Huandi Neijing and the five elements constitutions,collects relevant literal materials,analyzes and discusses the facial morphological features of the five elements constitutions through the method of literature research.2.The facial three-dimensional images of 150 colleges students were collected and identified by professional assistants with the binocular stereo vision system.This research analyzes and measures these facial images to study the correlationship between the five elements constitutions and different person's facial features,thus concludes the patterns and facial features of the five elements constitutions.Results:1.The literature view found that the theory of constitution in the HuangDi NeiJing attached great importance to the description of morphological characteristics,especially represented by the five-element constitution,that it described the constitutional characteristics about the physiological conditions of the five elements.2.Among the 150 volunteers in clinical investigation,the distribution of physical fitness was from high to low in order of wood,gold,soil,water and fire.The number of people with the wooden element was the largest,accounting for 50%of the total population.3.1n the facial features,there were statistically significant differences in the width of underjaw,the length of the lowest part of face,the length and height of nose in different constitutions of the five elements.People of the wood element have the shortest underjaw,and people of the soil element have the longest underjaw.People of the water element have the shortest length of the lowest part of face,and people of soil element have the longest.People of the wood element have the longest and highest noses while people of the water element have the shortest and lowest noses.4.From the facial characteristics,we found that people of the wood element show the facial features and width of underjaw are negatively correlated and positively correlated with the length of highest part of face,the length and height of nose.People of the soil element show the facial features that are positively related to the palatal width,width of underjaw,and length of the lowest part of face.People of the gold elements show the facial features and width of underjaw are positively correlated,and negatively correlated with length of the lowest part of face.People of the water element show a negative correlation between the facial features and length of the middle part of face,length,width and height of nose,and the width of the lip.Conclusions:1.In the description of constitution in HuangDi NeiJing,there are rich descriptions of morphological features,and these contents are important basis for physical constitution identification research.2.The facial features,such as the width of the mandible,the length of the lower chamber,as well as the length and the height of the nose,could be used to further identify the five types of constitution.3.The facial features of the five elements people are based on the theory of the five phases to divide the body shape.People of the wood element often have wider underjaw,longer upper face,longer and higher nose.People of the soil element often have wider ankle and underjaw,and their lowest part of faces are often longer than other.People of the gold element often have wider underjaw,and their lowest part of faces are shorter than other.People of the water element often have shorter atrium as well as lower,shorter and narrower nose,and narrower lips.4.Studying on the facial features parameters of the five elements constitutions can provide new ideas for the objective diagnosis of traditional Chinese medicine.
