This thesis comprises four chapters altogether.Chapter one presented a review on the chemical constituents and bioactivities of plants of the genus Valeriana.The second chapter discussed the chemical constituents and bioactivities studies on the roots and stems of Valeriana jatamansi Jones.Chapter three dealed with the isolation and determination of the chemical constituents of Lyonia ovalifolia.And in the last chapter,conclusion and outlook of this dissertation is made.Seventy compounds,including four new ones,were isolated from the above two specicies,and these compounds contain iridoids,sesquiterpenoids,triterpenoids,lignans,and flavonoids.Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis.The new compounds are mainly iridoids.The effects of the part of the obtained compounds on their Anti-Influenza A virus activities and the NO production inhibitory activity were evaluated.There are about 300 species in the genus Valeriana all over the world,and about 30 species in China.Valeriana jatamansi Jones,distributed widely in southwestern areas of China,has been used as a traditional Chinese medicine due to its hypnotic,tranquilizing and antiviral activities.In order to search for new natural active constituents and make use of abundant plant sources in our country,Valeriana jatamansi Jones distributing in Gui Zhou province was subjected to phytochemical studies.Forty compounds were isolated from the roots and stems of V.jatamansi.We have completed the structure identification of 35 compounds,including four new iridoids:Valjatrate F(1),Valjatrate G(2),Valjatrate H(3),Valjatrate I(4).And the known compounds were respectively identified as:Valjatrate E(5),Valtrate(6),Isovaltrate(7),Vaitratum-isovaleroxyhydrin(8),Rupesin B(9),Chlorovaltrate J(10),Nardostachin(11),Chlorovaltrate A(12),(1S,3R,5R,7S,8R,9S)-3,8-epoxy-1-O-mehyl-5-hydroxyvalechlorine(13),1,5-dihydro-xy-3,8-epoxyvalechlorine A(14),Rupesin E(15),Jatamanin A(16),Jatamanin G(17),Jatamanin F(18),Deacylbaldrinal(19),11-methoxyviburtinal(20),Baldrinal(21),Valeriananoid A(22),Valeriananoid B(23),Valeriananoid C(24),(+)-9'-isovaler-oxylariciresinol(25),Pinoresinol(26),(1R*,2S*,5R*,6S*)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-6-(3-methoxy-4-hyd-roxyphenyl)-3,7-dioxa-bicyclo[3.3.0]octane(27),Pteryxin(28),NodaKenetin(29),Isoscopoletin(30),?-sitosterol(31),1-linolenoylglycerol(32),1-linoleoylglycerol(33),3-methyl-2-(3-m-ethylbutanoyioxy)-butanoic acid(34),p-hydroxy-benzaldehyde(35).Lyonia ovalifolia(Wall.)Drude is a deciduous tree growing mainly in hilly and valley regions of south and southwest China.It has been used for the treatment of some diseases,such as chronic infectious arthritis,swelling pain,bruises and itching.Furthermore,L.ovalifolia had been used as an important ingredient of the plant medicine in the treatment of traumatic injury.Our further investigation of this plant was collected from Lijiang of YunNan led to the isolation of 30 known compouds:3?,19?,23-trihydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid(1),28,3? 19a,trihydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid(2),2a,3a,19a,23-tetrahydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid(3),1?,2?,3?,19a-tetra-hydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid(4),Pomolic acid(5),2a,3a,19a,23,24-pentahydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid(6),3?,6?,19a-trihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid(7),2a,3a,23-trihydroxyursolicacid(8),2a,3a,19?-trihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid(9),1?,2?,3?,24-tetrahydroxy-urs-12-en-oic acid(10),3?,23-dihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid(11),2a,3a,19a,23-tetrahydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid(12),3?,19?,24-trihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oicacid(13),2a-hydroxyursolic acid(14),2?,3?,19?,23-tetrahydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid(15),Niga-ichigoside F1(16),Quercilicoside A(17),Astragalin(18),5,7,4'-tri-hydroxy-8-methoxy flavonoid(19),kaempferol 3-O-?-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1?6)-?-D-glucopyranoside(20),(7R,8R)-3-methoxyl-9-O-?-D-xylopyranosyl-4':7,5':8-diepo-xyneolignan-4,9'-diol(21),(7R,8R)-3-methoxyl-9-O-fi-D-xylopyranosyl-4':7,5':8-die-poxyneolignan-4,9'-diol(22),Lyoniresinol-3a-O-?-D-glucopyranosides(23),Syringar-esinol(24),4(15)-eudesmen-1?,7,11-triol(25),2,3-dihydro-7-methoxy-2-(4'-hydroxy-3'-mehoxyphenyl)-3?-O-?-D-xylopyranosyloxy-methyl-5-benzofuranpropanol(26),Arbutin(27),5-(?-D-glucopyranosyloxy)-2-hydroxy benzoic acid methyl ester(28),Benzoic acid,3,5-dihydroxy-2-methyl,methyl ester(29),p-hydroxy cinnamic acid methyl ester(30).
