Objective To describe the status of Sleep-disordered breathing in children aged 5~13 years Chengguan District of Lanzhou City and explore risk factors of SDB.The correlation of SDB and its related dental maxillofacial abnormality was discussed in order to provide reference for the prevention of SDB and dental maxillofacial abnormality. Methods The methods of stratified random cluster sampling was used in the survey.A total of 1012 children were selected as the survey subjects respectively from 2 primary schools and 2 kindergartens in Chengguan district of Lanzhou City. The questionnaire survey was conducted among the Children's parents. The data was collected and analysed by the SPSS 23.0.The measurement data were expressed as(x ± s).Frequency data were described by percentage. The comparison between groups was performed by chi-square test.Logistic regression analysis was utilized to analyze risk factors of SDB.The correlation between SDB and dental deformity was analyzed by Spearman rank correlation. And the hypothesis t test was uitilized to calculate the correlation coefficient. Results 1.The incidence of symptoms related to SDB from high to low in turn was : Snoring 18.8%;mouth breathing 14.8%;hyperhidrosis 10.2%;nasal obstruction 9.9%;bruxism 6.4%;difficult breathing 5.8%;difficulty falling asleep 5.2%;rhinolalia 3.4%;toss about and feel uneasy 2.5%;awake at night 1.8%;throat choked 1.7%;apnea 1.5%;body twitch 2.2%;sleep talking/walking 1.4%;Easy to wake up/easily frightened 1.1%;bed-wetting/Enuresis 0.4%;screaming and crying 0.3%.2.Logistic regression analysis showed that obesity, prone position, rhinitis, tonsillitis and adenoid hypertrophy were common risk factors for snoring and mouth breathing.3.Spearman rank correlation found that: children with varying degrees of snoring and mouth breathing with lips exposed teeth, lip thickness/eversion and anterior maxillary protrusion, mandibular retrusion are positive correlation. Conclusions The prevalence of SDB in children aged 5~13 in Chengguan district of Lanzhou was high. The most common symptoms are snoring and mouth breathing, which affecting children's daily performance and associated with common dental maxillofacial abnormalities. The results indicate that parents and clinicians should pay highly attention to SDB and its related teeth and maxillofacial abnormalities in children. At the same time,in order to do the primary prevention of disease.Clinicians should highly cincern about SDB in children and intervene actively in order to reduce the impact of teeth and maxillofacial abnormality in primary prevention.
