Objectives:To investigate the status of self-management and quality of life in older people with diabetes mellitus in Changsha,and explore the related factors,so that to provide scientific evidence for improving the quality of life in older people with diabetes mellitus.Methods:The cluster sampling method was used.The older people with diabetes mellitus(aged 60 years to 75 years)were randomly cluster selected from Geriatrics Department,Endocrine Department,Internal Medicine-Neurology,Internal Medicine-Cardiovascular Department of one hospital,who were interviewed with questionnaires from December 2015 to September 2016.The questionnaire named general survey,type 2 diabetes self management behavior scale and diabetes Specific Quality of life scale.The questionnaire was collected by trained investigators.Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS 19.0.Results:?The level of self-management of older people with diabetes was 68.68±6.20.81%of the patients were in the middle level.The score of the 6 dimensions of self-management were regular medication 87.07±8.23,regular exercise 72.70±9.99,prevention/treatment of high and low blood sugar 72.30±6.96,foot care 68.20 ±6.50,diet control 65.43 ± 11.10,and glucose monitoring 52.75±9.57·?Logistic Regression indicated that gender,taste and the finding ways of diabetes were the factors for patients' self-management and explained 47.3%of the variance.?The average score of quality of life in elderly diabetic patients was 47.45±7.92.The ratio of each dimension from high to low were psychological/spiritual 2.056,treatment dimensions 1.740,physical function 1.657,social relations 1.472.?Logistic Regression indicated that the course of disease and blood glucose monitor were the factors for patients'quality of life and explained 37.8%of the variance.Conclusion:Gender,taste and the finding ways of diabetes were the factors of self-management behavior.the course of disease and blood glucose monitor were the factors of the quality of life.
