Objective The longitudinal study mainly aimed to mothers and healthy term newborns in the home setting.During the first 6 months, informing infant sleep, maternal and paternal sleep and mood.Exploring the correlation between parents mood/sleep and infant sleep/behavior pattern. Methods In home setting,381 healthy term newborns and their parents from 10 hospitals of 9 provinces were enrolled in this longitudinal study.During the first 3 days of life, family demographics were collected. Both self-rating depression scale and Pittsburgh sleep quality index were adapted to access parents' mood and sleep at age of 1 months,3months,6 months infants.Acti-watch and sleep diaries were combined to carry out 3 times of 3-day sleep monitoring at 1 month,3 month and 6 month. The data was analyzed by SPSS and SAS.The correlation between parental postpartum mood/sleep and early infant sleep was analysis by multilevel mixed models and glimmix models. Results 1.During age of 0-6months,the percentage of maternal depression is 39.1%,and the percentage of paternal depression is 21.8%.The proportion of maternal depressive is higher than paternal depressive.Compared with mothers who have bachelor degrees or above, the mothers with under university degrees have higher proportion with depression(ORmother=1.82).The under bachelor depressive fathers are 2.05 times than the fathers who have university degrees or above(ORfather=2.05).The old fathers had a relatively low rate of depression.(ORfather=0.92).2.After infant birth one month, the fairly/very bad sleep quality proportion of mother is 19.9%and the father is 4.1%.The percentage of parents poor sleep quality is decreased by month(ORmother=0.67,ORfather=0.58).Infant mothers decreased times of wake up in the middle of the night or early morning by month(r=-0.089,P=0.005).The reasons which affected maternal sleep qualities were have to get up to use the bathroom(65.0%),feel too hot(36.5%),had bad dreams(29.5%),other reasons(including feeding or infant crying,25.7%),have pain(22.1%),feel too cold(20.5%),cough or snore loudly(18.1%),cannot breathe comfortably(6.2%).The reasons which affected paternal sleep qualities were cough or snore loudly(45.0%),have to get up to use the bathroom(44.1%),feel too hot(21.0%),had bad dreams(14.3%),other reasons(including working or socializing,14.2%),feel too cold(13.4%),cannot breathe comfortably(9.7%),have pain(8.0%).Compared with normal mood people, the parent who accompanied by depression have higher proportion of poor sleep quality, and vice versa(ORmother=2.48,ORfather=4.76).Compared with poor sleep quality people, the parent may have higher proportion of accompany depressive mood(ORmother=2.48,ORfather=4.76).3.Compared with normal mood mothers, the infants with depressive mother have less daytime naps and reducing percentage of daytime naps.In night sleep pattern, the infants with depressive mother have more night naps. The infants who have more daytime naps, their mothers have higher proportion of depression(ORmother=0.88).4.Compared with normal mood mothers, the infants with depressive mothers have lower proportion of parenting activities(ORmother=0.73).In the 0-6 months, the proportion of the infant's sleep was relatively low, which was accompanied by the depression of the mother.(ORmother=0.71).Depression fathers who will reduce the proportion of infants which placed to bed asleep(ORfather=0.73).Conclusions At the age of the 6 month, the mood and sleep of the parents changed with the increase of the age of the infant. The percentage of parents' depression decreased by month and parents' sleep quality improved.Parents' depression was correlated with parents' mood.Parents poor mood is associated with poor sleep quality, and the parents with poor sleep quality are accompanied with the risk of depression. The depressive mothers will decrease the quality of infant sleep.During the day,the infant with good sleep which mother with the low proportion of depression.Mothers who accompany depression will reduce parenting activities and the percentage of their infants fell asleep byself will reduce.Fathers who accompanied by depression will reduce the proportion of the infants fully asleep.
