Objective:To study the distribution characteristics of potassium supplement in both extracellular and intracellular fluid and new formula for the patients with hypokalemia. Methods:The inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria were mainly established for the patients with hypokalemia, and so on.About 20 to 30 patients would be selected. The defined formula was used to calculate the increased potassium(mmol)in the extracellular fluid, another potassium(mmol)transferred into cells and their summation of both(therapeutic amount defined by this paper). The results of these potassium(mmol)data were performed by the normal distribution test on levels of the extracellular fluid, transferred into the cell, and both summation. The linear regression and correlation analysis were performed between the therapeutic amount of potassium and the increased potassium added in the extracellular fluid.Results:20 cases of all were accepted finally.Potassium added to the extracellular fluid(mmol),potassium transferred into the cell(mmol),and therapeutic amount of potassium were normally distributed, their X ± S are respectively 3.61±0.58,14.16±4.00 and 17.77±4.35.The ratio between increased potassium(X)of extracellular fluid and that(X)ofintracellular with hypokalemia was equal to 3.92 after treatment of 24 hours. The linear regression analysis showed a linear relationship significantly between therapeutic potassium(Y)and increased potassium(X)of extracellular fluid. And Y=0.452+4.796 X.Conclusion:1.The newly added measurement data of potassium in the extracellular fluid, that of potassium transferred into the cell, and the therapeutic amount of both are normal distribution after 24 hours treatment.2.The mean ratio between increased potassium of extracellular fluid and that of intracellular with hypokalemia is equal to1?3.92 after treatment of 24 hours.3.The therapeutic amount of potassium(Y)is linearly related to the addition of potassium(X)in the extracellular fluid, and Y=0.452+4.796 X.
