The existence of Taxus can be traced back to the Fourth Glacier period, because of its endangered and significant medicinal effects, the species known as gold in plant. It is mainly distributed in Europe,Asia, and North America. In China, this precious species is cultivated in large quantities, with a cultivated area of over 100,000 hectares, including China's unique species Taxus chinensis var.mairei(variety 1)and one introduced variety,Taxus media(variety 2).At present, the research of Taxus mainly focuses on the taxol component in its bark, and the research about its fruit is rare.Studies have shown that the fruit of Taxus contains flavonoids, phenols and other components, but no related research.Lysimachiae Herba is fresh or dried whole plant of Lysimach christinae Hance,a genuine medicinal materials of Si Chuan and Chong Qing.It tastes bitter and sour. The chemical components of Lysimachiae Herba include flavonoids, phenolic acids, polysaccharides and volatile oils, among which flavonoids are the main active ingredients.Present studies have shown that Lysimachiae Herba has special effects on hepatic calculus, and its flavonoids have the effects of anti-inflammatory,being good for gallbladder and preventing the formation and recurrence of calcium oxalate calculus. The Current quality control for Lysimachiae Herba is single,in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia,it is just for controling quercetin and kaempferol, which are not characteristic components of Lysimachiae Herba, nor can reflect the overall effects of Chinese medicine. This article provides relevant evidence for the further development and utilization of Chinese featured resources through relevant research on Taxus chinensis and Lysimachiae Herba.1.Chemical Components,Biological Activities, and Toxicological Evaluation of the Fruit(Aril)of Two Precious Plant Species from Genus TaxusThis chapter will analyze the chemical composition, pharmacological activity, and toxicology of the fruit of two species of yew, determining its content of flavonoids, phenols, and terpenes, analyzing its antioxidation and anti-hyperglycemic activity, and conduct an acute toxicity test on its methanol extracts. The results showed that the fruit of Taxus contains abundant phenols and traces of terpenes. Its antioxidant and antihyperglycemic abilities are significantly different. The results of correlation analysis showed that its antioxidant activity is more likely to be affected by phenols and anti-hyperglycemia activity is more likely to be related to terpenoids. At the same time, acute toxicity test showed that the fruit of two species of yew are not acutely toxic. The compounds were assigned and the results showed that there were differences in the chemical composition between the two species of Taxus.Variety 1 had more glycosides than variety 2,which may be related to its growth environment and maturity time. The experimental results in this paper can provide a theoretical reference for the further development and utilization of the valuable of Taxus.2.Study on the Quality Evaluation of Lysimachiae HerbaIn this chapter, through the antioxidation and anti-inflammation experiments, the effect part of Lysimachiae Herba was selected, and its composition was identified and analyzed.Based on this, the Lysimachiae Herba from different origins were collected to establish fingerprints and 3 of them were Simultaneous determinated. The results showed that the activities of antioxidation and anti-inflammation were most obvious in the 70% ethanol part. The fingerprint analysis of this part of the 14 batches of medicinal materials showed that the similarity was high in Si Chuan and Chong Qing.Chemical structure analysis and three of the chemical components, namely Maurisin,Quercitrin, and Trilobid in each batch of medicinal materials were determined. It is tentatively determined as a quality evaluation for Lysimachiae Herba, which will lay the foundation for the modernization of Lysimachiae Herba.
