Objectives:To evaluate the associativity between the use of Statins and the abnormalities of blood glucose in people taking statins and investigate whether Statins cause New-onset Diabetes,to provide a theoretical basis for the selection of suitable lipid-lowering drugs for people with high risks for diabetes. Methods:This analysis enrolled the randomized controlled trials(RCT)of patients taking Statins by searching the PubMed and EMBASE databases from its setup to June 2017,and the references cited in related articles were also included. At the same time, the relationship between Statins and New-onset Diabetes was analyzed by using Revman Manager 5.3 software in available RCT.Results:This research included a total of 66,538 patients with 10 high-quality literature for systematic analysis. Our results suggested that statins were positively associated with New-onset diabetes(pooled OR=1.14,95% CI: 1.07-1.23,P=0.0002).Conclusions:The present evidence shows that statins are associated with new-onset diabetes. The use of statins in the high-risk diabetics should be more cautious. And the follow-up of blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c),and oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT)before and during treatment has important significance on reducing and early spotting of new-onset diabetes.
