Objective:To summarize the distribution of positive Fecal Occult Blood Test?FOBT?in neonatology department of our hospital and to identify the common causes. Methods:The clinical features of 282 cases in the neonatology department from January 1st to Juny 31st 2016 were analyzed retrospectively. Results:Of the 282 cases,71?25.18%?cases of the positive FOBT were due to contaminated feces or investigation error, while 211?74.82%?cases were due to gastrointestinal hemorrhage.Necrotizing Enterocolitis?NEC?,gastrointestinal malformation?GM?and food allergy?FA?were the most common causes of the latter, with the presentation time of positive FOBTin 7?3,13?d,10?4,17?d and 13?8.75,20.25?d,respectively,with statistically significant difference??2=9.318,P=0.009?.In the identification,a discriminant analysis indicated a correlation of birth weight?X1?,delayed excreting of meconium?X2?,emesis?X3?,diarrhea?X4?,bloody stools?X5?and poor response?X6?:YNEC=0.010X1+1.515X2+3.641X31.201X4+4.029X5+6.761X619.433;YGM=0.012X1+4.291X2+6.002X31.619X4+2.644X5+6.595X625.853;YFA=0.011X1+2.410X2+3.472X3+0.491X4+5.182X5+4.686X622.395;while a multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated the correlation of presentation time of positive FOBT?X1?,using of antibiotics or emesis?X2?and diarrhea?X3?:YNEC=2.6340.105X11.862X2+2.091X3;YGM=10.6540.125X12.59X2+2.651X3,which the overall predictive rate of the two models were 70.97%and 77.42%respectively,without the statistically significant difference??2=1.348,P=0.246?.Conclusion:The etiologies of positive FOBT in newborns are complicated, combining with other clinical features can contribute to identify the common causes of neonatal gastrointestinal hemorrhage.
