Objective:to discuss the misunderstandings in treatment and prevention of venous thrombus embolism(VTE).Methods:The clinical data of 98 calf muscle vein thrombosis patients who request consultation were analyzed. Results:The 98 patients, came from orthopaedics, intensive care unit, urological surgery, neurology etc.The majority of patients found by ultrasound screening, only 13.3%of patients experienced symptoms. After confirmed the diagnosis,48.9%of patients were told the high mortality caused by PE,41.8%of patients were requested to complete bed rest, and 30.6%of patients were connected with ECG monitors. But only 26.5%of the patients received prophylactic antithrombotic treatment before confirmed the diagnosis. Conclusion:Nowdays the medical workers tend to lower the risks through indistinctive ultrasound screening, greatly overestimating mortality of VTE,but ignore prophylactic antithrombotic therepy. It result in waste of medical resources and add to patients and families' mental burden, meanwhile it against VTE control and prevention.Valuing screening over prevention, when faced calf muscle vein thrombosis what regarded as an disease preventable, medical members always follow this misunderstanding.Increasing awareness of calf muscle vein thrombosis and making rational use of prophylactic antithrombotic treatment not only can avoid wasting medical resources, but benefit the patients.
