| Objective:This study investigated the effects of different types of clear liquids on the children before operation,to explore the influence of the gastric emptying and the comfort of the children.Methods:120 children were randomly divided into four groups with tonsillectomy or(and)adenoidectomy: the control group and the experimental group(clear water group, glucose water group, compound agent group). In the three experimentalgroups, the children were given clear liquid three hours before anesthesia, and the control group used the traditional midnight fasting program.By comparing the cross-sectional area of the gastric antrum before the operation, and assessing children’s thirst, hunger, irritable emotions, and the parental satisfaction. Results:No reflux aspiration occurred in the four groups of children during anesthesia, and there were no statistical difference in the cross-sectional area of the gastric antrum measured by ultrasound(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between the three groups(P<0.05)in the scores of the thirst, hunger, irritability emotion and parental satisfaction. In the comparison of the four scores of the experimental groups and the control group, the control group was higher than the experimental group in each score, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Drinking different types of clear liquids 3h before anaesthesia does not increase the stomach capacity. So the scheme is safe and feasible, and it can also increasethecomfortofchildren and the satisfied levels of family members of children during perioperative period. |
