Objective:To explore the correlation between retinal electrophysiological function and retinal ganglion cell layer(GCL)thickness in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods:Patients with type 2 diabetes in this study were collected from January 2017 to October 2017 in the Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University according to the degree of fundus lesions were divided into diabetes group(group NDR,n=20)and in patients with non proliferative diabetic retinopathy group(NPDR group,n=20),at the same time in healthy subjects(control group,n=19).All subjects were examined by complete ophthalmology. The macular retinal thickness and ganglion cell layer thickness were measured by OCT.Retinal function was measured by Mf-ERG.The difference of retinal structure and function between each group was statistically analyzed, and correlation analysis was performed. Results:With the progression of diabetic retinopathy, the thickness of GCL of control group,NDR group and NPDR group were significantly decreased, there were significant differences between the three groups in the mean thickness of GCL and the thickness of SN,S,I,IN four fan-shaped area of(p=0.0079,0.0002,0.006,0.0044,0.0105);the P1 wave amplitude density of the three groups were significantly decreased, there were significant differences between the three groups in P1 wave amplitude the density of the five rings(p=<0.0001,<0.0001,0.0004,0.0069,0.0494),the P1 wave latency of the three groups gradually increased(except the 1 ring),there were significant differerces between the three groups in the P1 wave latency of 3 ring and 4 ring, but no significant differerces in other rings;using pearson correlation analysis,it is found that the amplitude of P1 wave of five rings has a significant positive correlation with the mean thickness of GCL,while the correlation between the P1 wave latency and the mean thickness is of GCL is not clear. Conclusion:It is found that with the progression of diabetic retinopathy, the thickness of retinal GCL gradually decreases, and the electrophysiological function of retina gradually decreases, and there is a partial correlation between them;also found that in the early stages of diabetic retinopathy, the structure and function of neural retina has appeared pathological changes, and appeared before the obvious signs of vascular disease.
