Purpose:Status Epilepticus(SE)is a life-threatening neurological disorder. At present,it's still a challenge to predict the prognosis of patients after convulsive status epilepticus(CSE).The purpose of the study was to investigate the prognostic factors and outcomes of adult patients following CSE.Methods:A retrospective study was performed to collect data of clinical feature and outcomes of patients with CSE in a tertiary academic medical center in southwest China from January 2012 to December 2016.The predictive factors and outcomes were analyzed at discharge by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Results:A total of 47 patients with CSE from the database were included in this study. The median age of the cohort was 47 years(range:17-95 years),and 32(68.1%)were male(male/female ratio:2.13).29.8%(14/47)patients had poor outcomes at discharge. The age(p=0.038),onset age(p=0.010),history of seizure(p=0.038),pulmonary infection(p=0.027),mechanical ventilation(p=0.020),and STESS scores(p=0.037)were related to the prognosis of the CSE.Logistic regression analysis revealed that mechanical ventilation was the independent prognostic factor. Conclusions:The outcomes of the patients following CSE were poor. The age, onset age, history of seizure, pulmonary infection and the severity of the CSE at admission may be prognostic factors of CSE.Mechanical ventilation was the independent predictor of poor outcomes.
