The infection rate of Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)remains high and half of the world's population is infected.Resently,it has been recommended that H.pylori infected individuals should be given eradication therapy unless there are competing considerations both in Maastricht V and Kyoto consensus. The recommended regimens for H.pylori eradication should include bismuth, proton pump inhibitors(PPIs)and two different kinds of antibiotics with lower drug resistance. These drugs should be taken twice daily both in the morning and evening, and the total course of treatment should be 10 to 14 days. However, the quadruple therapy includes high-dose antibiotics and PPIs,which may lead to disorders of normal gastrointestinal flora, destruction of natural protective barrier, and disturbance of the body's immune system. This article reviews research progress of the short and long term influence on gastrointestinal flora and the role of probiotics in the eradication of H.pylori therapy. |
