Objectives:Evaluating the biological factors which included the nature of stroke, location, course of disease, the degree of neurological deficit, cognitive function and social psychology factors such as social support(including objective support, subjective support and social support utilization),life stress events, personality characteristics of the stroke patients to discuss the related factors of poststroke depression from these two aspects. Methods:Randomly collected 58 patients with stroke within 3 months.Poststroke Depression Rating Scale(PSDS)was used to evaluate the depression. The stroke patients were divided into depression group and non depression group,12 cases in depression group and 46 cases in non depression group.Using the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)to evaluate the neural function defect and the Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)to evaluate the cognitive function of the two groups patients. The two factors were uesd to estimate the biological factors of PSD patients. The Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ)was used to assess their personality characteristics and the Social Support Revalued Scale(SSRS)to evaluate the social support(including objective support, subjective support and social support utilization)and the Life Events Scale(LES)to appraise their life stress of the two groups. The three factors were used to estimate the social psychosocial factors of PSD patients.Results:1.There were 12 patients been diagnosed depressive disorder among the 58 patients with stroke and the incidence of PSD was 20.7%in 3 months after stroke.2.Biological factors:the degree of neurological deficit score in the depression group was significantly higher than that in the non depression group and the cognitive function score was significantly lower than that in the non depression group(P<0.05).3.Social psychological factors:the neuroticism score of the patients in the depression group was significantly higher than that in the non depression group and the score of social support utilization was significantly lower than that in the non depression group(P<0.05).4.There is a significant interaction between cognitive function and social support utilization in the pathogenesis of PSD.(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.The occurrence of PSD was significantly related to the degree of nerve function defect, cognitive function, social support utilization and neuroticism personality. The degree of nerve function defect and neuroticism personality were risk factors of PSD and social support utilization was the protective factor of PSD.2.Biological factors and social psychological factors participated in the pathogenesis of PSD and had significant interaction in the pathogenesis of PSD.
