Young women in Sub-Saharan Africa are the most susceptible to HIV infection. So the purpose of this study was to assess the level of comprehensive HIV/AIDS knowledge and acceptance attitude towards People living with HIV/AIDS(PLWHA)among young women aged 15-24 years in Kenya and Lesotho. The study used a nationally representative sample of the individual women's data from the 2014 demographic and health survey(DHS)data of both Kenya and Lesotho.A total of 11,483 young women of Kenya and 2,842 young women of Lesotho have been included in this study with the highest proportion in the age group of 15-19 in both countries. The binary logistic regression was conducted using SPSS version 22 to predict the relationship between HIV related knowledge and acceptance attitude, and socio-demographic characteristics of young women. For all results,a 5%statistical significance were determined. In both countries, almost all young women had already heard about HIV/AIDS(99.2%in Kenya and 98%in Lesotho). Moreover, there was an average comprehensive HIV/AIDS knowledge(58%in Kenya and 64.8%in Lesotho)of young women in both countries. However, acceptance attitude towards PLWHA in both Kenya(9.2%)and Lesotho(41.5%)were inadequately low.Based on the result from the binary logistic regression model age, residence(except in Kenya),education, religion(except in Lesotho)and wealth index were significant associates to comprehensive HIV/AIDS knowledge.Likewise, residence, education, and religion(except in Lesotho),wealth index, and comprehensive HIV/AIDS knowledge exhibited significant associations with the acceptance attitude towards PLWHA.The study also found that young women in Lesotho have significantly higher comprehensive HIV/AIDS knowledge(OR 1.34,95%Cl 1.23-1.46)and acceptance attitude towards PLWHA(OR 6.99,95%CI 6.34-7.72)than their counterpart Kenyan young women.Universal HIV awareness with modest comprehensive HIV/AIDS knowledge was observed.Nonetheless, attitude towards PLWHA was alarming.Subsequently, governments of both countries should enhance women's academic level and promote and implement efficient HIV/AIDS related pedagogical contents in the curriculum of all educational institutes.
