Objective:To investigate the diagnostic value of serum procalcitonin(PCT)and C-reactive protein(CRP)in the diagnosis of geriatric bacterial pneumonia and the evaluation value of disease severity.Methods:400 patients with pneumonia who were admitted to The First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University by the respiratory department between January 2015 and December 2017 were analyzed retrospectively. These included 130 cases of bacterial pneumonia(group A),140 cases of viral pneumonia(group B),and 130 cases of mycoplasma pneumonia(group C).Another 150 caseswere selected to conduct a healthy medical examination in this hospital during the same period.Set up a control group. Then the patients in Group A were divided into three sub-groups according to their degree of illness which is the CURB-65.The results of serum procalcitonin(PCT)test and C-reactive protein(CRP)tests in each sub-group were counted.and the results were compared and analyzed. Results:There were significant differences in the expression of serum PCT and CRP between groupA,B and C and the control group.Serum PCT and CRP specificity were 90.4%and 77.5%and serum PCT specificity was significantly higher than CRP,which was of statistical significance Conclusion:The level of serum PCT and CRP both have a high value in etiology diagnosis of senile bacterial pneumonia and can be used as an evaluation index of severity condition in senile bacterial pneumonia patients.Serum PCT was significantly superior specificity to serum CRP in the diagnosis and diagnosis of geriatric bacterial pneumonia.
