Objective: To analyze the prevalence and composition of metabolic syndrome among employees in a certain institution in Enshi so as to know the detection rate of metabolic syndrome and each metabolic abnormal component in this population and to explore the relationship among various metabolic abnormalities in metabolic syndrome and the effects of age and sex on MS.Thus provide some evidences for the intervention and prevention of metabolic syndrome in this region. Methods: A total of 1003 workers and staff members were enrolled in this study, whose came from a certain institution of Enshi. The data of metabolic syndrome were collected, including age, sex, height, weight, blood pressure and blood glucose.Screening for missing or incomplete information due to various reasons.Using the Chinese Diabetes Society(CDS)diagnostic criteria: at least have the following four components of the three:(1)overweight or(and)obesity: BMI(body mass index)?25.0.(2)hyperglycemia: FPG(fasting blood glucose)? 6.1 mmol / L or glucose up to 7.8 mmol / L 2 h after glucose loading.(3)Hypertension: blood pressure ? 140/90 mmHg or treatment of confirmed hypertension.(4)dyslipidemia: TG(fasting blood triglyceride)?1.7 mmol / L,or HDL-C males < 0.9 mmol / L,female <1.0 mmol / L.Analysis the prevalence of metabolic syndrome in the population and its relationship between the MS and other components.Put the investigation of the data into the computer after the quality controlled, then using SPSS 20.0 software to establish database for statistics analysis.Results:1.The survey was eventually included 810 people at the target population of whom 428(52.8%)were male and 382(47.2%)were female. The minimum and maximum age ranged from 25 to 89 years.2.The prevalence of metabolic syndrome was 12.7%(103 cases)in the survey subjects,of which the prevalence was higher in males than in females(19.2% in males and 5.5% in females in 21 cases)(p <0.001).The prevalence of metabolic syndrome was 33.1%,29.0%,13.6%,34.9% and 12.7% for overweight or obesity, abnormal blood pressure / hypertension, high FPG / diabetes, high TG and low HDL-L.Among them, the prevalence of males in all the other groups was higher than that of females(p <0.001),except that the prevalence of low HDL-C was higher in males than in males(p = 0.350).3.The Logistic regression model was used to analyze the influence of each components of metabolic syndrome.Overweight or obesity, abnormal blood pressure, dyslipidemia and abnormal blood glucose are the independent risk factors of metabolic syndrome.Among them,BMI ?25.0 for the most important independent risk factors(OR 31.994).Conclusion:1.In 2016,the total prevalence rate of metabolic syndrome among a certain institution workers in Enshi was 12.7%.The prevalence of metabolic syndrome in the high incidence stage mainly in the elderly population. The prevalence of males is higher than that of females, but the rate of the perimenopausal women increased faster than men.It suggests that prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome should focus on the elderly population, especially middle-aged and older women.2.the epidemiological investigation of metabolic syndrome in the highest prevalence of high TG,then followed by overweight / obesity, abnormal blood pressure, abnormal blood glucose. The prevalence of low HDL-C is lowest.3.BMI?25.0,high SBP,high DBP,high TG,low HDL-L,high FGP are the risk factors of metabolic syndrome.
