Objective:This paper aimed to analyze the constitutions of patients with DE and their infection risks from the perspective of the TCM constitutional theory. Here the identification of disease is combined with the identification of constitution.Based on all the TCM therapies and the principle of“treatment learnt from various therapies",a series of optimal individualized diagnosis and treatment scheme is established to improve patients' constitution status and change the outcome of the disease. It is hoped that it can accurately shorten the course of disease, quickly decrease the pain suffered by patients and provide the theoretical basis for the individualized treatment of DE combining with the identification of constitution and disease. Methods:The epidemiological research method was adopted in this paper.A research on TCM constitution was conducted among the 120 selected patients with DE by the form of a questionnaire. After the determination of the constitution types, the software SPSS 19.0 was used to learn the incidence of the disease and perform the statistical analysis on the frequency of TCM constitution types, the susceptible constitution, the frequency of male and female and the constituent ratio.Result:1.Yin deficiency constitution in the 120 cases of DE patients with different ages was the most, and the proportion was 37.5%;damp and heat constitution came the next and the proportion was 15.0%;the proportion of Qi deficiency constitution was 11.7%;all these three types of constitutions accounted for 64.2%in total which was obviously more than the others.2.For the age distribution of the 120 cases of DE patients, the proportion of the middle age group was51.26%which is the most, including 37.81%female and 13.44%male;the old-age group took the second place and accounted for 33.61%,including 26.89%female and 6.72%male;the least proportion was from young age group which accounted for 0.83%.3.The constitution types of DE patients from young age, middle age and old age group showed the different distribution, which was statistically significant(P<0.001).Hereinto 18 cases in young age group accounted for 15.12%of which most were normal constitution, the proportion was 5.0%;and the special constitution accounting for 4.2%came next. The middle age group accounted for 51.26%,of which most were Yin deficiency constitution accounting for 19.3%,the damp and heat constitution accounting for 13.4%came the next, then the Qi deficiency constitution accounted for 8.4%and the normal and special constitution were the least both accounting for 0.8%.40 cases were the old age patients with DE of which most were Yin deficiency constitution accounted for 17.6%,and the Yang deficiency constitution accounting for 5.9%came the next. Conclusion:Firstly, among the 120 cases of dry eye patients from different age group, the incidence of ED increases with the increasing ages. The incidence of middle and old age patients is high relatively and the female are higher that the male.Secondly, the susceptible constitutions in the 120 cases of DE patients are Yin deficiency constitution, damp and heat constitution and Qi deficiency constitution. There is significant difference for the susceptible tendencies in different age groups and their individualized treatment guidance also has specific characteristics.Thirdly, the susceptible constitutions in DE patients with young age are normal constitution and special constitution.Yin deficiency constitution,Qi deficiency constitution and damp and heat constitution are very common in the middle age group. The susceptible constitutions in old age patients with ED are Yin deficiency constitution,Yang deficiency constitution,Qi deficiency constitution and Qi?stagnation constitution.
