Study On TCM Constitution Related Vascular Cognitive Impairment Groups

Objective: To study the constitution of TCM distribution of the vascular cognitiveimpairment groups, to explore the relationships and rules between VCI and TCMconstitution, in order to provide new ideas for clinical prevention and treatment of VCIdisease through a combination of syndrome and constitutionMethods: The populations with cerebrovascular disease or vascular risk factors(Such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, coronary heart disease) are our researchobject. Through the collection of clinical data, we divide the research populations intothree groups using Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal cognitiveassessment (MoCA) scores, Total Depression Scale (GDS), Activities of Daily Livingability (ADL) and Clinical Dementia Rating scale (CDR). Also we take advantage of"Chinese constitution classification and decision table"(standard Chinese MedicineInstitute) to determine the type of constitution.Results:1. N-VCI group, VCI-ND group and VD group have statistical significancein age, education level, smoking status, emotional, regular exercises (P<0.05).2.Diabetes in three groups has statistical significance. What’s more, the course of vasculardisease has differences.3. TCM Constitution of N-VCI group is mainly Ping he quality;The top four TCM Constitutions in VCI-ND group are: Qi xu quality, Tan shi quality,Xue yu quality and Ping he quality; TCM constitution in VD group is as follows: Qi xuquality, Tan shi quality, Xue yu quality and Ping he quality. Ping he quality, Qi xu quality,Tan shi quality, Xue yu quality between the three groups have statistical differences.4.According to the age50-59years old and60-69years old, Ping he quality is in themajority. Qi xu quality and Tan shi quality are in the majority between70and79years old; Qi xu quality, Xue yu quality and Tan shi quality are in the majority between80and89years old. Ping he quality, Tan shi quality and Xue yu quality have statisticalsignificance in age grouping.Conclusion:1. The primary social factors of VCI disease are age, education degreecourse, vascular risk factors and the course of vascular factors. However, the increasingage, lower educational level, diabetes and long duration of vascular risk factors are riskfactors of cognitive function decline. And also higher education level, emotional calmand regular exercises are the protective factors of cognitive function.2. The prevalenceof VCI disease and TCM constitution types have internal relationships. Patients withvascular cognitive dysfunction are mostly biased constitution. Qi xu quality, Tan shiquality, Xue yu quality, Ping he quality and Yin xu quality are the main constitution type.3. There are correlations between the distribution of constitution and age: with thegrowth of age, the population of Qi xu quality, Xue yu quality, Tan shi quality increase,the population of Ping he quality decreased.
