The Clinical Observation Of "Xuefu Zhuyu Tang" Combined With Atorvastatin In The Treatment Of Chronic Subdural Hematoma

Objective:Chronic subdural hematoma(CSDH)is neurosurgical disease commonly encountered in clinical practice and predominantly in the elderly.The annual incidence of CSDH is 2.06/million.The possibility that CSDH is cured by self-healing is remote,and the surgical treatment is preferred.Considering factors including the high rate of recurrence after the surgery and formation of subdural effusion,pharmacotherapy along with dynamic observation,as a conservative treatment,is an alternative for patients with mild symptoms of CSDH.In recent years,statins have been found to have a good effect on the treatment of CSDH.Furthermore,Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction,which is regarded to have the effect of accelerating blood circulation and removing blood stasis according to traditional Chinese medicine theory,can be served for accelerating hematoma liquid absorption and is becoming a classical Chinese medicine prescription for CSDH.In this study,Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction was applied with atorvastatin to treat CSDH,and we compared the clinical efficacy of this treatment with that of the treatment without application of Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction and observed the absorption of hematoma fluid and the improvement of clinical symptoms in two cases.Methods:60 patients with CSDH symptoms were randomly divided into two groups:control group and treatment group.The control group received conventional conservative treatment with application of atorvastatin,while the treatment group received conventional conservative treatment with application of Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction together with atorvastatin.Then,we observed the life quality,the area of hematoma fluid observed through head CT scan and the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome of the patients prior and after the treatment,compared between the two groups and recorded relevant data.We used SPSS17.0 software to organize data and do statistical processing.Results:After 1 month of treatment,the life quality,the condition of hematoma fluid absorption observed through head CT scan and TCM syndrome of the treatment group were improved compared to those of control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.The treatment of CSDH with Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction together with application of atorvastatin can improve the nerve function and the life quality of the patients.2.Some patients with mild CSDH symptoms can be treated with application of Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction together with atorvastatin.The efficacy of this treatment is better than that of the conventional treatment-the patients are less likely to suffer from postoperative complications,and in the meantime,this treatment can reduce the medical costs of patients.
