Investigation Of HIV/AIDS Knowledge,attitude And Practice Among College Students In Art Institutes

Objective:To investigate status of knowledge?attitude and behavior(KAP)related AIDS and relevant factors among Art College students and to provide evidence and support for improved strategies on Health Education of AIDS.Methods:Using on-line survey.A total of 1100 students were sampled from 11 Secondary College in Nanjing Arts Institute,and 1045 valid questionnaires were collected.SPSS 18 and EXCEL software were used to analyze the questionnaire data statistically with Chi-square test and the single factor correlation analysis.Results:1.Background information:A total of 1100 questionnaires were distributed in the survey,and 1045 valid questionnaires were returned.2.Knowledge:The knowledge awareness rate of AIDS is between 21.3%and 98.5%.The transmission awareness rate is between 88.4%and 98.5%,and there is no statistically significant difference between the different background factors(P>0.05).The non-transmission awareness rate is between 55.7%and 79.9%.It is good at the awareness rate of condom knowledge,but short in the risk behaviors of HIV infection.57.7%believe that AIDS epidemic situation is "very serious,serious".There is significant difference in Gender,Grade and GPA(P<0.01),except Source place.3.Attitude:55.6%of students are not concerned about AIDS.76%believe that our society has a discrimination against HIV/AIDS.About the attitude towards premarital sexual behavior,the approval,opposition and neutral attitude is 19.1%,37.9%and 43.0%.There are differences between different background factors.The higher the grade and the GPA,the higher the approval rate.Boys is better than girls.4.Behavior:Among the art students,23.3%had sexual behavior,about 8.4%before 18.When discovering the high risk of HIV infection,97.1%will recommend to do AIDS testing and 63%willing to do AIDS prevention advocates.In contact with AIDS,the closer the relationship,the lower the positive behavior.There was a negative correlation between intimacy and the positive behavior.Art students are generally reluctant to learn with AIDS(P<0.05).5.The relationship among knowledge,attitude and behavior:In this survey,cross analysis showed no significant correlation between knowledge and attitude(P>0.05)and showed a significant positive correlation between Art College Students' attitude toward AIDS and behavior orientation(P<0.01).6.Current situation and demand of AIDS education:86.5%of art students believe that their current knowledge of AIDS and sexual knowledge is not rich enough.The most common access to AIDS related knowledge is network(82.5%)and school education(75.9%).71.6%began to accept AIDS prevention education in junior high school,but 86.5%think it should be before that.At present,art college students are more willing to understand "Prevention and treatment of AIDS" and "how to identify high-risk behavior of HIV infection".Conclusion:Art college students have a good understanding of the majority of AIDS knowledge with low level of some knowledge.The source of AIDS information is relatively monotonous.Art college students have a more open concept of sex with a little prejudice against HIV/AIDS.The relationship among AIDS knowledge,attitude and behavior of art college students showed a trend of phase separation.The impact of different backgrounds on the AIDS related knowledge,attitude and behavior orientation is different and Gender and grade had significant effect.The school should adopt systematic and targeted measures to strengthen the health education of AIDS prevention.Guide students to establish a positive and correct concept of AIDS and sex,to enhance the sense of AIDS prevention crisis,to promote the formation of healthy behavior.
