Objective To determine the prevalences of fatty liver and gallstones workers in the Jinchuan cohort,to analyze the main risk factors as well as to provide data for prevention measures and strategies, and eventually to reduce the prevalences in this population. Methods 1.A cross-sectional study desin was used to determine the prevalence of fatty liver and gallstones from June 2011 to September 2012 in the cohort using epidemicological surveys, physical examinations, laboratory tests and B-mode ultrasonography examination, all completed by professional investigators and doctors. The epidemiological surveys included general demographic characteristics, behavioral characteristics, the history of occupational exposures, personal history of disease as well as family history of chronic disease.Physical examinations and laboratory tests included height, weight, blood pressure and the levels of some serum biochemical indicators.2.A case-control study desin was used to analyze the risk factors for fatty liver and gallstones.Patients who were diagnosed with fatty liver or gallstones by B-mode ultrasonography were the cases, while healthy people were the controls.Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors for fatty liver and gallstones. Results 1.In the Jinchuan cohort, the total prevalence of fatty liver was 17.76%.More specifically, the prevalence of fatty liver in males was 21.20%,which was higher than the prevalence in females. In addition, the prevalence of gallstones was 9.85%.The prevalence of gallstones in females was 11.91%,which was higher than the prevalence in males.2.The prevalence of fatty liver was associated with age.More specifically, there was an upward trend in the prevalence of fatty liver in people below 60 years, and a downward trend in people 60 years or older.Males between 40-49 years had the highest prevalence of fatty liver(23.34%)but there was no relationship prevalence and age among males. However, females 60 years or older had the highest prevalence of fatty liver(18.83%)as well as a positive correlation between prevalence and age.The prevalence of gallstones increased with age.3.According to the results of the logistic regression,of fatty liver in the Jinchuan occupational cohort included age, family history of chronic disease, overweight, hypertension, hyperglycemia, and levels of SUA,CREA,TC,TG,HDL-C,and ALT.The influencing factors of gallstones included age, gender, hyperglycemia, overweight, history of coal and dust exposure, drinking, and levels of SUA,TG,HDL-C,and LDL-C.Conclusion 1.The prevalence of fatty liver in Jinchuan cohort was lower than the general the general population of china while the prevalence rate of gallstones was higher than in other areas.2.Males aged 40-49 and females over 60 were had the highest prevalences of fatty liver in males and females. The risk groups for gallstones included elderly people and females.3.Overweight,hyperlipidemia,and high blood glucose were risk factors for both diseases.
