Study On China’s Forestry Foreign Direct Investment,Technology Innovation And Upgrading Of Forestry Industry Structure

As an aggregation of economic,ecological and social service functions,forestry industry is an industry that produces and provides various forest products based on forest resources and uses funds and technical means to obtain benefits.At present,China’s forest resources are scarce.The rise of domestic wood demand and the lack of China’s wood supply capacity are the main contradictions facing the development of China’s forestry industry.Therefore,Chinese enterprises adopt the way of overseas logging and direct import of timber.Through OFDI,they can set up bases for the development,processing and sales of foreign forest resources in some countries with less risk and relatively rich forest resources,which can effectively alleviate the pressure of insufficient import to a certain extent.In addition,the significance of OFDI is not only to seek for raw materials,but also to open up international markets and acquire advanced technologies for the forestry industry,so as to enhance the competitiveness of China’s forestry industry and promote technological innovation in the industry.It is also an important way to accelerate the continuous upgrading of China’s industrial structure.Even in the research of previous scholars,it can be proved through the first foreign experience that the development of overseas investment plays an important role in driving home country’s technological innovation and promoting home country’s industrial structure optimization and upgrading.However,as a developing country,China cannot fully draw on the relevant research of developed countries.In conclusion,it is of great significance to study the mutual influence between the three factors of China’s forestry industry’s OFDI,technological innovation and forestry industrial structure upgrade.In this context,this article first reviews the relevant theories of OFDI,and on this basis,introduces the mechanism by which OFDI promotes the upgrading of industrial structure,and then further analyzes the impact of OFDI on the upgrading of industrial structure through the intermediary effect of technological innovation.Secondly,through combing the current situation of China’s forestry OFDI,technology innovation,and industry structure,and the current related problems are put forward.Finally,by building an econometric model,combining theory and empirical research,selecting 2011-2017 Relevant data of China’s forestry industry examines and analyzes the impact of forestry OFDI on technological innovation,the impact of technological innovation on industrial structure,and the impact of OFDI on industrial structure,and then uses technological innovation as an intermediary variable to examine forestry foreign can direct investment promote the upgrading of forestry industry structure through technological innovation as an intermediary variable.The research results show that:(1)China’s forestry outward direct investment has a positive impact on technological innovation,but is relatively weak.(2)Technology innovation has a positive impact on the industrial structure.(3)China’s forestry outward direct investment It also has a positive impact on the industrial structure,and the impact is more significant.(4)OFDI can promote the upgrading of China’s forestry industrial structure,which is partly realized through technological innovation,that is,technological innovation is one of the intermediary variables that China’s OFDI has an impact on the industrial structure.Finally,this article puts forward suggestions from both macro and micro aspects on the current problems of China’s forestry OFDI,technological innovation and industrial structure.
