C-reactive protein(CRP),as a representative of acute phase protein(APP),is an important inflammatory marker in the body.Studies show that CRP is a sensitive marker of inflammation in dogs. Therefore,it is of great clinical significance to summarize and study the application of CRP in canine diseases.Based on the classification and summary of the clinical cases in recent two years in a Shanghai pet hospital, canine parvovirus disease, canine acute pancreatitis, and canine castration cases were selected to study the diagnostic and therapeutic value of CRP,which could provide reference for the clinical application. The results are as follows:(1)The application of CRP in the diagnosis and treatment of canine parvovirus disease.Dogs with CPV infection as case group and healthy dogs as control group. The clinical examination indexes of infected dogs were classified and analyzed, also including the CBC and CRP examination in the two groups. The results showed as follows. The incidence rate of Teddy dogs was the highest at 40%in the investigated dogs with CPV disease. And the incidence rate of purebred dogs was higher than that of mixed dogs. The incidence rate of juvenile dogs accounted for 95%.When consulting, mental state of 90%dogs was depressed, with severe vomiting at 75%.The fecal characteristics of all dogs were not normal.BCS exceeded three grade in 60%dogs.Mandibular lymph nodes swelled in 90%cases.75%dogs were sensitive to abdominal palpation and abnormal CRT was found in 60%dogs.Dehydration also happened in 90%dogs with different grade. There was the highest incidence rate in the dogs without vaccine injection in time.30%dogs died in this study with 15%dogs died of myocarditis.CRP increased significantly in the case group, compared with the control group(p<0.05)and CRP increased relatively higher in the dead dogs.During the treatment, the dogs with the gastroenteritis were monitored. The CRP concentration in dead dogs increased significantly compared with the recovered dogs(p<0.01).Therefore,CRP detection plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of canine parvovirus disease.(2)The application of CRP in the diagnosis and treatment of canine acute pancreatitis(AP).Dogs with AP as case group and healthy dogs as control group. The clinical examination indexes of dogs were classified and analized.also including the CBC.CRP.blood biochemistry and cPL detection in the two groups. The results showed as follows. The incidence rate of mixed dogs with acute pancreatitis was the highest at 30%.And the incidence rate in small dogs was higher than that in the medium and large dogs.when consulting, mental state in 85%dogs were gloomy, and 65%dogs with high body temperature and vomiting signs.Abnormal fecal characteristics happened in 90%dogs.BCS in 90%dogs was higher than six grade.Mandibular lymph nodes swelled in all case.85%dogs were sensitive to abdominal palpation and 100%dog's CRT were abnormal. In the case group,25%dogs died and 5%dogs had poor prognosis. The CRP concentration in the AP group increased significantly, compared with the control group(p<0.01).During the treatment, continuous CRP testing was applied.CRP in the dogs with poor prognosis and death increased significantly, compared with the dogs with good prognosis(p<0.01).Therefore.CRP detection plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of canine acute pancreatitis.(3)The application of CRP detection in canine castration.Healthy male dogs with castration were collected in this study. The clinical examination indexes were classified and analyzed, also including the CBC and CRP results before operation and on the 1st,3rd,5th,and 7th day after operation. The results showed as follows.CRP concentration increased significantly at 24 h after operation, compared with that before operation(p<0.05).During postoperative recovery,CRP concentration was detected continuously. Results showed that CRP concentration in the normal dogs with castration increased significantly at 24 h after the operation, and then decrease, which recovered to the normal level on the 7th day after the operation. There was no significant difference in the CRP concentration between the 7th day after the operation and before the operation(p>0.05).Therefore,CRP can be used as an indicator of recovery after canine castration. In summary,CRP is a promising indicators in canine parvovirus disease, acute pancreatitis and castration, which can provide the guide in the clinical diagnosis and treatment.
