C-reactive protein (CRP) is an inflammatory markers of blood that can increase rapidly in infection and tissue damage, and are one of important inflammatory factors and acute phase substance. Canine CRP detection was used widely in veterinary clinical practice in foreign countries. To determine the CRP in dog serum during May 2014 to February,2015, compare and analysis the variation tendency and the pertinence of CRP among different diseases. In order to estimate the value of monitor surgery and prognosis. The results show that CRP is more sensitive than WBC in diagnosis of infectious diseases. It can be used in the early diagnosis of bacterial, viral and parasitic infections. CRP can reflect the degree of bacterial infection accurately, and is not affected by glucocorticoids in different kind of diseases, so can be used for monitoring of treating effect by steroid therapy. CRP is more sensitive to increase in early stage of secondary to virus infection, and will still rise after treatment with biological agents, it can plays a auxiliary role in disease diagnosis by other detective approach. CRP can also be used for prediction of postoperative recovery and prognosis, and monitored the secondary infection in surgery.
