Forage mulberry is a new mulberry variety with edible whole branches developed by Chinese scientists in recent years. It has high quality of crude protein, strong resistance, fast growth and low degree of lignification.Forage mulberry has many excellent characteristics and is of high value in animal production, but there are few studies on rabbits. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of Forage mulberry on the production performance, blood glucose, blood lipids, antioxidant properties and intestinal microflora of growing rabbits,in order to better play its high quality characteristics in rabbit breeding.120 rex rabbits of 75 days old, with similar body weight and good health were selected, male and female half, that were randomly divided into 4 groups, with 30 repetitions in each group and 1 in each repetition. The basic group was the control group, and the basal diet was fed.The test group I,II,and III were the experimental group, that were fed a test diet of 3%,6%,and 9%,respectively,to the replacement of forage mulberry. The pre-feeding period is 7 days and the trial period is 42 days. The results showed that:(1)The levels of different forage mulberry had no significant effect on the average daily feed intake,feed-to-weight ratio, average daily gain, diarrhea rate and mortality of the rex rabbits(P>0.05).(2)The addition of Forage Mulberry had no significant effect on the apparent digestibility of DM,CP,EE,CF and NDF in rabbits(P>0.05),and the apparent digestibility of calcium and 6% and 9% ADF(P<0.01).There is a significant improvement effect, the apparent digestibility of phosphorus is significantly improved(P<0.05),and the apparent digestibility and apparent digestibility of 6% and 9% groups are significantly reduced(P< 0.01).(3)The levels of different forage mulberry had no significant effect on the shearing force, cooking loss and 45 min pH of rabbit meat(P>0.05),and the shearing force and 45 min pH increased.(4)The levels of different forage mulberry had no significant effect on the live weight, total net sputum rate and half net sputum rate of the rabbits(P>0.05),but the total net sputum rate and the half net sputum rate decreased.(5)Different levels of forage mulberry had no significant effect on rex rabbit's spleen index, thymus index, heart relative weight and liver body index(P > 0.05),among which the thymus index and heart relative weight were higher than the control group, and the liver body index were lower than the control group.(6)The levels of different forage mulberry had no significant effect on the content of water and crude protein in rabbit meat(P>0.05),and the crude fat content in rabbit meat of 6% and 9% was significantly reduced(P <0.05).(7)The levels of different forage mulberry had no significant effect on the tare weight, skin area, coat density and coat length of the rex rabbits(P>0.05).(8)The levels of different forage mulberry had a significant decrease on the LDL-C,HDL-C and TC contents in the rabbits(P<0.01),and had no significant effect on the TG content(P>0.05).(9)The levels of different forage mulberry had a significant effect on the insulin content in the serum of the rex rabbits(P<0.01),and had no significant effect on muscle glycogen and serum glucose content(P>0.05),but the glucose content in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group and the muscle glycogen content was higher than the control group.(10)The levels of different forage mulberry had no significant effect on the invertase activity and maltase activity of jejunum and ileum of rabbits(P>0.05),but the test group was lower than the control group. The activity of invertase in 3% and 9% of the duodenum was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.01),and the activity of maltase in 3% and 6% group and the activity of invertase in 6% group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P< 0.05).(11)The levels of different forage mulberry had no significant effect on serum SOD content and T-AOC in the rabbits(P>0.05),but the test group was higher than the control group, and the GSH-Px and MDA contents were significantly increased(P<0.05).(12)The levels of different forage mulberry had no significant effect on the contents of SOD,T-AOC and MDA in the liver of the rabbits(P>0.05),and the GSH-Px in the liver of 3% and 9% groups was significantly improved(P<0.05).The effect on the 6% group was not significant(P>0.05),but it was higher than the control group.(13)The levels of SOD,T-AOC and GSH-Px in rabbit meat of 3% group were significantly increased(P<0.05),but significantly decreased in 9% group(P<0.05),and the MDA content in the meat of 6% and 9% group was significantly reduced(P<0.01).The 3% and 6% group rabbit meat had the best antioxidant effect.(14)The species similarity of the 6% and 9% groups was significantly different from that of the control group(P < 0.01),and the species similarity of the 3% group was significantly different from that of the 6% group(P < 0.05).The species diversity of duodenum and jejunum decreased with the addition of forage mulberry, but the species number increased. In the 3% and 6% groups, the bacteria related to reducing obesity and breaking down sugar showed an upward trend.Considering comprehensively, the most suitable replacement ratio of forage mulberry in growing rabbits is 6%.
