Management And Evaluation Of Forest Pest Prevention And Quarantine In Xiuyu Port Of Fujian Province

Xiuyu Port is an important inbound timber distribution center in Fujian Province.In order to prevent the invasion of foreign forestry pests,this study analyzes the forest quarantine management measures and their implementation at Xiuyu Port in recent years,combines the interception results of foreign pests at the port,systematically investigates the occurrence of forest pests in the port location,and conducts a forest quarantine management system at Xiuyu Port at present.The occurrence status and existing problems of forest pests were analyzed and evaluated.The main conclusions are summarized as follows:There were 58 species of forestry pests at Xiuyu Port,including 2kinds of invasive pests(Hemiberlesia pitysophila Takagi and Rhynchophorus ferrugineus),and 3 kinds of forestry pests(Dendrolimus punctatus,Monochamus alternates and Lymantria xylina)which had a large area of local damage in 2016.The total area of forest pest occurrence was 6193.6 hm~2 in this district in 2016.Generally,there are relatively many species of forestry pests in the region,which occur in a large area and distribute widely.In recent twelve years,13 species of pests were intercepted from imported logs at Xiuyu Port,including Ips perturbatus,Dendroctonus simplex and Dendroctonus urfipennsis etc.The intercepted species increased year by year,reaching 1382 from 2005 to 2017.The risk of invading alien pests is very high in this district.Therefore,we should strengthen the construction and management of Xiuyu imported log pesticide treatment area in Putian,strictly quarantine and pesticide removal,prevent the introduction of forest pests into China with imported logs,and protect land and ecological security.Xiuyu’s external port quarantine and domestic forest quarantine supervision system has initially formed,and played an important role.The imported logs processed in the pesticide treatment area are safe and effective,and the quarantine supervision measures are rigorous and scientific.In view of the occurrence of forest pests in Xiuyu District and the current situation of Forest Quarantine Management at Xiuyu Port,some suggestions on forest quarantine work at Xiuyu Port were put forward.
