The method of picking up the corn in the upper stem is to pull stalks which stand above the ear and throw them upward.It has the advantages of low grain loss and less ear damage.Considering the multi-spiral pulling stem roller has the problems of high requirements on corn line spacing,slipping in the process of pulling the stem,and the extracted stalks is too hard to collection.In this paper,the design of the crop divider & ear-picking mechanism for the method of picking up the corn in the upper stem.In order to acquire the velocity of crop dividers and the angle of ear-picking,a crop divider and feeding mechanism which applied the method of pulling stack upwards was designed to find the best parameter for crop divider and ear-picking.According to the experiment result,a kind of snapping roller which can extrude and cut straw was chosen and a test bench of crop divider & ear-picking mechanism for the method of picking up the corn in the upper stem was designed.Through experimental study,when the angle of the snapping roller is greater than 40 degrees and the speed of crop divider is less than 2.0m/s,the feeding mechanism basically ensure the feeding rate.The main grain loss is the collision damage of ears caused by fingering.The feeding ability of the crop divider mechanism to non-row and lodging corn was tested and the result shows that the crop divider mechanism can harvest non-rowing and lodging corn in a certain extent.The causes of stalk breakage,ear collision damage and carton of feeding mechanism during the experiment were analyzed.The device was improved and re-designed to solve the problem existing in the process of the experiment mentioned above.Prismatic stem snapping roller was applied.The effects of roll shape,diameter of corn straw and moisture content of straw were studied on the test bench and it shows that the roll shape of drawing stem roller has significant effect on straw treatment effect.The bending moment of straw extracted by blade roll and prismatic roll is less than 2N·m proves that blade roll and prismatic roll are both suitable for the method of picking up the corn in the upper stem.However,blade rollers are more likely to cause straw breakage.The results of comparative test on two test benches showed that the improved test bench could avoid collision damage of finger to ear.The occurrence probability of straw breaking and poaching carton also decreased significantly.In this paper,the preliminary design and improved design of the crop divider & ear-picking mechanism for method of picking up the corn in the upper stem are carried out.It can reduce the loss of grains in heading stage and decrease the collision damage of finger to ear.It provides a new way of ear picking for fresh corn and seed industry,which have very high requirements for harvesting quality.
