Wildlife monitoring is an indispensable part of effective conservation,sustainable utilization and scientific management of wildlife resources.At present,the commonly used methods of monitoring wild animals include artificial field investigation and infrared camera monitoring.But these methods are labor intensive,long monitoring period and can't be transmitted to researchers in time.In order to realize the remote and effective transmission of wild animal information,this paper focuses on wild animal image monitoring and data wireless transmission.The main research are as follows:1)Hardware of wild animal monitoring system was developed.Aiming at the hardware architecture of wildlife monitoring system,a wireless image sensor network(WISN)terminal node and coordination node based on STM32F429 microcontroller were designed.The terminal node is composed of an image acquisition module,a wireless transmission module,a data storage module and power supply circuit.The coordination node is based on the terminal node and adds the wireless routing module and the Ethernet module.2)Software of the wildlife monitoring system was designed.The terminal node integrates the functions of automatic capture,storage and wireless transmission of wild animal images.The coordination node achieves the functions of wireless data reception,Ethernet image transmission and environmental information network uploading.The system realizes the automatic collection and remote transmission of wild animal image data.3)Response retransmission mechanism was proposed.In order to solve the problem of wireless transmission instability and data loss in forest wildlife monitoring data,the application layer ACK response and data repetition receiving strategy were designed based on the MAC layer retransmission mechanism of IEEE802.15.4 protocol.4)System test was conducted in forest.In order to verify the validity of the monitoring system and the application layer retransmission mechanism,field tests were carried out at the Saihanwula National Nature Reserve in Inner Mongolia.The experimental results show that the maximum transmission distance is 250m,the corresponding error rate is 1.83%in the dense forest area.In this paper,the wildlife monitoring system based on WISN and the data retransmission mechanism were developed,which achieves the wireless remote real-time transmission of wild animal image data.The monitoring system designed in the paper provides new ideas and methods for wild animal image monitoring and can be used for the monitoring of wild animals in sparsely populated areas.
