The garlic harvesting work in China is mainly manual,which is complex,labor intensive and inefficient.In addition,with the continuous development of productivity,the cost of employing workers is also increasing,making garlic economic efficiency is not high.However,people’s demand for garlic is increasing and garlic cultivation has become largescale.In order to improve productivity,garlic harvesting mechanization is imperative.According to the current situation and future development trend of garlic harvesting in China,this paper studies and designs a wheel garlic combine harvester,which integrates garlic digging,clamping and drawing,transportation,stem separation,seedling throwing,collection and other functions,and can realize garlic combine harvesting.The harvester is driven by a wheeled chassis,and using the way of pre-harvesting and chain clamping and drawing can harvest up to six rows of garlic,and the harvesting row spacing can be adjusted at 17~20 cm.Eccentric cam is used to install convex mechanism in staggered phase in excavation device,which makes excavation shovel dig loose soil symmetrically in turn,ensures the stability of fuselage and reduces power consumption.The differential throwing roller is used uniquely to solve the problem of winding and blocking in the process of throwing seedlings.This paper mainly studies from the following aspects:(1)Based on the comprehensive analysis of the research status at home and abroad,combined with garlic planting technology and farmers’ harvesting requirements in China,the overall design scheme of self-propelled garlic combine harvester was determined,and the way of garlic combine harvester was determined to be wheel self-propelled,fully combining and utilizing the mechanical and hydraulic power of wheel chassis to provide power for harvesting system.(2)The key devices and technologies were analyzed and designed,including chassis modification,digging device,clamping and cutting stem device,and seedling throwing device.In order to reduce power consumption,symmetrical eccentric disc staggered protruding excavation is adopted.And the dynamic unbalance on the axle is balanced mechanically.Through a series of experiments and analysis of garlic stalk,the clamping and drawing principle was used to design the clamping and cutting device,and orthogonal horizontal experiment was designed.The data were processed by Design-expert 8.0.6.1.The optimal combination of parameters of clamping and cutting stalk was obtained to improve the harvest quality.The seedling throwing device is guided by the seedling throwing auxiliary cylinder and the differential speed seedling throwing roller,which solves the problem of seedling throwing,winding and blocking.(3)According to the design scheme,a prototype of design and test of key device of the 4DS-6 garlic combined harvester was manufactured,and the performance test of the prototype was carried out.The results showed that the harvesting efficiency reached With different harvesting speed and row spacing,the harvesting efficiency can reach at least 2.8 mu/h,the net yield was more than 95%,the damage rate was less than 2%,the loss rate was less than 3%,and the success rate of cutting was more than 90%.and the harvesting indexes can meet the requirements of garlic harvesting operation.
