In order to observe the related botanical feature and evaluate their ornamental characteristics,twentysix ornamental peppers from different regions were used as materials in this experiment.The four ornamental peppers(Q3,Q6,W4,S2)with the eight-leaf seedlings were treated with PEG-6000 artificially simulated by drought stress.The physiological indexes and the opening degree of different varieties stoma of seedlings were observed by scanning electron microscopy.The ornamental peppers with relatively high ornamental value and strong drought resistance were screened.The main test results are as follows:1.Observed botanical traits of twenty-six ornamental peppers,and analyzed sixteen indicators closely related to ornamental traits with Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP),such as fruit shape index,fruit color richness,and period of fruiting,etc.It conducted ornamental evaluation and determined the ornamental value of twenty-six ornamental peppers,which provides a basis for the promotion of ornamental peppers and the subsequent selection of experimental materials.2.With the increase of drought stress,the relative water content and chlorophyll content of ornamental peppers showed a downward trend.The MDA content in the seedling leaves of ornamental peppers continued to increase.Under mild drought stress,the maximum increase of W4 was 75.02%,and the lowest of S2 was 8.36%.The MDA content of Q6 leaves was respectively 2.35 times,W4 was 2.19 times and Q3 is 1.73 times,which compared to the control during severe drought stress.The variation range of MDA content in the leaves of four ornamental peppers is: Q6>W4>Q3>S2.3.Under the influence of drought stress,a large amount of osmotic adjustment substances such as soluble sugar,soluble protein and proline accumulated in the leaves of ornamental peppers,and the soluble sugar and soluble protein of Q6 and W4 increased more than Q3 and S2.The increase in the degree of S2 is gradually decreasing at the same drought stress treatment.The mostly increased of soluble protein content in W4 under moderate drought,which was 3.64 times of the control;the soluble sugar content increased the most under heavy stress,which was 1.46 times compared to control.Under severe drought stress,the highest increase of proline content was W4,51.76% compared to control.4.During the drought stress process,the activity of POD and SOD showed a trend of first strengthening and then decreasing with the degree of drought increased.Q6 had the strongest SOD activity and S2 had the strongest POD activity under moderate drought stress treatment.The SOD activity of W4 was not significantly different from the control under severe drought stress.5.As the degree of drought stress aggravates,the number of stomata in the leaves of ornamental pepper plants increased and the area of stomata became smaller.During the whole drought stress process,the stomatal opening of Q3 has been getting smaller,indicating that Q3 was in a state of resisting drought from mild stress,indicating that Q3 has the weakest drought resistance,while Q6 has the smallest change in stomatal opening and showed that it was affected at the least by drought stress.The order of drought-resistant ability in four ornamental pepper plants is Q6>W4>S2>Q3,which based on analyses of indexes in this paper.
