Due to the pursuit of green development,Yangzhou's gardening industry has been developing with an enrichment of urban plants.Consequently, the number of pests on garden plants have increased;the occurrence of these pests in local areas has become more frequent, resulting in the poor growth of the damaged plants, which seriously affected the entire landscape of Yangzhou.Notably, the major garden pests, scale insects are threatening the garden plants, which can affect the plant's regular development, and can even lead the plant or all the garden plants to death, causing damage to the landscape of Yangzhou's gardens. Therefore,in order to control the pests in Yangzhou's gardens, this study investigated and collected the pests in Yangzhou's gardens and relevant literature from 2016 to 2018,and studied their occurrence and damage on plants. This study also investigated the scale insects on the garden plants in Yangzhou, and conducted the corresponding pesticide test. The main results are summarized as follows:1.From 2016 to 2018,an investigation was conducted for Yangzhou's city parks, including Geyuan,Heyuan,Hehuachi Park and some green belts in the main urban areas.A total of 283 insect species were identified, which belong to 88 families of 10 orders.2.Based on the monitoring of garden pests in Yangzhou, this study found that the climatic conditions in this two years are suitable for the reproduction and growth of pests, and there're different pests shown in different seasons. In addition, the borer pests are gradually causing more damage in wider areas;the gluttonous leaf-feeding pests are the most common and major pests in Yangzhou's gardens.3.The primary scale insects on the garden plants in Yangzhou include 8 species;Eriococcus legerstroemiae,Drosicha corpulenta,Ericerus pela, and Ceroplastes japonicas are the dominant species with most serious damage. The less dominant species are Pseudaulacaspis pentagona,Unaspis euonymi,Didesmococcus koreanus and Ceroplastes ruben, which occurred periodically.4.The pesticide test showed that(1)Omethoate 40EC,nitenpyram 10EC and actara 25WG showed the fastest control on post-hibemant nymphs of Ceroplastes rubens. The durability of omethoate 40EC,nitenpyram 10EC,actara 25WG,abamectin acetamiprid 4EC and amira 70WG were good, with over 85%control effect. The control effect of omethoate 40EC and nitenpyram 10EC was the best for female adults, and the effect could respectively reach 85.23%and 80.67%after 15 days.In addition, the control effect of all pesticides was better in post-hibernant nymphs than female adults,so we should focus on the post-hibemant nymphs in control strategies.(2)After seven days' usage of 500 times' concentration of Fogo, the control effect of Ericerus pela was 100%.Seven days' apply of 1000 times' concentration of omethoate and Alika all had a good control effect of 97%.Seven days' apply of 1000 times' concentration of Fogo and 500 times'Alika had a 95%and 93%control effect on scale insects, respectively. While seven days'apply of 2000 times' concentration of omethoate showed a worse control effect of 42%scale insects. In addition, the Fogo could sometimes cause white spots on plants.Omethoate is highly poisonous to environment and animals and is currently rarely used in practice.Alika and Fogo both have a good permeability, they are suggested to be alternately used to control the scale insects in gardens.
