In order to provide the scientific basis for the reasonable pruning periods of walnut,the 6a’Qingxiang’,’Lipin 2’ and ’Zhonglin 1’ walnut were selected and treated with pruning method in different time.The pruning periods were subdivided into pruning before defoliation,pruning after defoliation,winter pruning,pruning before germination and pruning after germination.The results were showed as follw:To the Pn:There were no significant difference among.pruning before defoliation,pruning after defoliation,pruning before germination and pruning after germination.The pruning after defoliation performed the best for ’Qingxiang’ and ’Zhonglin 1’,and.the effect of pruning before defoliation and pruning after defoliation was optimum for ’Lipin 2’.The winter pruning performed bad for ’Qingxiang’and ’Lipin 2’,and it was significantly lower than pruning after defoliation mostly;The winter pruning and CK performed the worst,and they were significantly lower than pruning before defoliation and pruning after defoliation mostly.To the Chlorophy Ⅱ:The content of Chlorophy Ⅱ was not remarkable difference among the treatments(including CK)for ’Qingxiang’;and the winter pruning performed the worst.The pruning before defoliation,pruning after defoliation and pruning before germination performed the best for ’Lipin 2’,and they were no significant difference mostly;The winter pruning performed the worst,and was significantly lower than pruning before defoliation,pruning after defoliation and pruning before germination mostly.There were no significant difference among pruning before defoliation,pruning after defoliation,pruning before germination and pruning after germination for ’Zhonglin 1’ and the pruning before defoliation and pruning after defoliation performed better;The winter pruning and CK performed the worst,and they were significantly lower than pruning before defoliation and pruning after defoliation.To the soluble sugar:The pruning before defoliation,pruning after defoliation and pruning before germination performed better for ’Qingxiang’,and there were no significant difference among them;the CK was the worst for ’Qingxiang’.There were no significant difference among treatments except the pruning after germination and CK for ’Lipin 2’;The pruning before defoliation and pruning after defoliation performed the best,and CK was the worst.There were no significant difference among pruning before defoliation,pruning after defoliation,pruning before germination and pruning after germination,and they performed the best;the CK was second best,and the winter pruning was the worst.To the starch:The pruning after defoliation was the highest level for ’Qingxiang’ and ’Zhonglin 1’mostly.And it was significantly higher than the pruning before defoliation,winter pruning,pruning before germination and CK for ’Qingxiang1;And it was significantly higher than the winter pruning and CK for ’Zhonglin 1’.The pruning before defoliation and pruning after defoliation performed the best for’Lipin 2’,and they were significantly higher than the winter pruning and pruning after germination.The CK was the worst for the three varieties.To the soluble protein:The pruning after defoliation was significantly higher than the winter pruning,pruning after germination and CK mostly for ’Qingxiang’;and it was significantly higher than the winter pruning and CK for ’Lipin 2’ and ’Zhonglin 1’ mostly.For the three varieties,the pruning after defoliation was the highest level,and the winter pruning performed the worst in most
