As one of the four major grain crops in China,the potato planting area is increased year by year,it is of great value both as grain and vegetable or other commercial and industrial products.As an important link in the potato industry,potato harvesting machinery plays an important role in increasing potato yield and increasing income,Until now,the traditional potato harvest machinery have a great variety,but the machinery aim at photo harvest of hill and mountains region needs to improve.A roller potato harvester applying to hill and mountains region is designed in this article.The main research contents and results are as follows:First of all,By Reading literature and collating information,Summarizing the design experience and design standard of potato harvester,growth characteristics and planting agronomy of potato;Combined with the type of separation device and digging shovel in the design manual of agricultural machinery,make sure the design project of the roller potato harvester,and introducing the key components and parameters of the structure.It mainly includes excavating and shoveling,separating and transporting roller screen,Angle adjustment device and so on.Secondly,Establishing the simulation model,Simulating the separation and transportation of potato and soil by the discrete element method.combining with the Design-expert software to analyze the simulation results,the range of working parameters of roller potato harvester is determined,and the structure is optimized.Finally,Making a sample machine for separating conveying drum screen parts and make a test.Analyzing the damage rate of potato by the bench test and simulation.Based on the research above,the main components and structure parameters of the roller potato harvester: the digger blade driven by rotation consists of 12 arrow type shovels: the shovel length is 438 mm,width is 180 mm,field angle is 70°.The separation conveyor roller screen: the diameter is 860 mm,the length is 1200 mm,the width of the filter screen is 50 mm.Through the simulation,getting the main factors that affecting the time of potato separation and delivery and the delivery rate are the cutting Angle,the traveling speed and the roller screen rotate speed.Best work scope is: the cutting Angle is 10°~15°,the traveling speed is 0.3 m/s,the rotate speed is 20 ~45r/min,The average force of the potato during the whole movement process is between 10 N and 200 N,and the potato will not be damaged due to collision with the machine.
