Cunaxidae(Prostigmata: Bdelloidea)is a mite group as potential natural enemies for biological control of crop pest, and the taxnomy study of the family has been being a hot feild all over the world. But the research,at present.is conducted mostly in the United States,India,Iran,Brazil,Pakistan,Greece,Thailand,Poland,Philippines,South Africa,Russia,Uzbekistan,Ukraine, and so on.By now,Cunaxidae consists of 6 subfamilies,27 genera, more than 400 species. While only 6 subfamilies,16 genera,49 species have been reported in China, and only found in Fujian,Guizhou,Sichuan,Chongqing,Liaoning,Taiwan,Jiangsu,Anhui,Shanghai,Beijing,Hebei and Jiangxi provinces,of which only Chongqing and Guizhou is in the Wulingshan area. Therefore, this thesis aims at taxonomics of the family Cunaxidae from Wulingshan area.In the thesis the taxonomic progress of the family Cunaxidae at home and abroad is reviewed, and the biological and morphological characteristics of the family are introduced. There are 26 species, belonging to 10 genera of 5 subfamilies identified in the thesis,of which 4 species are new to science,19 species are newly recorded from China, males of 2 species are firstly described, and 3 species was firstly recorded from Wulingshan area. The research status and diagnosis of every genus and the keys to species are given based on the present study and literature. All 26 species were described with 113 morphological diagrams in detail. The faunal characteristics of the family Cunaxidae from Wulingshan area is also briefly analyzed according to zoogeographic zoning of the world and China. The taxa new to science and to China and Wulingshan area are listed as follows:Four new species: Parabonzia fodingshanensis sp.nov.;Armascirus xiaoxii sp.nov.;Neobonzia neomalookensis sp.nov.;Neoscirula alloaliciae sp.nov.Nineteen species newly recorded from China: Parabonzia mindanensis Corpuz-Raros,1996;Lupaeus valentinae Sergeyenko,2011;Lupaeus sativae Den Heyer,2013;Lupaeus iranensis Den Heyer,2013;Neocunaxoides zuluensis Den Heyer,1980;N.mahabaeus Corpuz-Raros,1996;Pulaeus krama Chaudhri,Akbar & Rasool,1979;Pulaeus banksi Bashir & Afzal,2009;Pulaeus razanensis Den Heyer,2013;Cunaxa heterostriata Khaustov & Kuznetzov,1998;Cunaxa gordeevae Sergeyenko,2009;Armascirus harrisoni Smiley,1992;Dactyloscirus mansoni Smiley,1992;Dactyloscirus pataliputraensis Gupta,1981;Dactyloscirus philippinensis Corpuz-Raros,1995;Neobonzia kuznetzovi Sergeyenko,2011;Neoscirula imperata Corpuz-Raros,1996;Neoscirula puntiglupa Corpuz-Raros,1996;Neoscirula taclobanensis Corpuz-Raros,2007.Three species newly recorded from Wulingshan area: Parabonzia zhangi Lin & Zhang,2002;Scirula papillata Lin,1997 Cunaxa setirostris Hermann,1804.Two species with the male first description: Parabonzia zhangi Lin & Zhang,2002;Lupaeus valentinae Sergeyenko,2011.Faunal analysis on 26 species, belonging to 10 genera of Cunaxidae in the Wulingshan area reveled that the Wulingshan cunaxids could be grouped into 6 faunal patterns on the zoogeographic zoning of the world. It was regarded as the Oriental fauna typically with stronger links with the Palearctic region, the Nearctic and Afrotropical regions, and weaker relationship with Australian and Neotropical regions. There were only two faunal patterns recognized on zoogeographic region of China and it could be regarded as the typical of the Central China fauna.
