| Notes of Farming on Different Kind of Lands is a book of agricultural science and was finished in the 25th year of Qianlong Empire period by Zhang Zongfa,an intellectual living in Shifang County,Sichuan in the Qing Dynasty.With rich content wrote by over three hundred and thirty thousand words and completed format,Notes of Farming on Different Kind of Lands focuses on the reflection of the agriculture production situation in Sichuan region in the period of Qianlong Empire of Qing Dynasty.This book’s content covers almost every aspect of rural life.Such aspects of rural life refer to the plants to be planted and grew in large-scale land,trees of economic value,domestic animals,climate and phenology in a lunar month,water conservancy,soil,agricultural meteorology,disaster relief providing,preparation against natural disasters,arrangement of daily rural life,weddings and funerals,maternal and health care and other aspects.Zhang Zongfa has expounded in detail on a variety of planting crops and domestic animals in terms of their name,form,biological character,utility,the planting crops’ cultivation techniques and other contents,which includes a vast amount of agriculture-related knowledge on weather,edaphology,chemistry,forestry,zoology,phytology,veterinary medicine,and sociology.At present,there are very few researches onNotes of Farming on Different Kind of Lands and its author Zhang Zongfa in academic circle,and only few people specialize in the research of Zhang Zongfa’s life story and his books of agricultural science.As to Notes of Farming on Different Kind of Lands,a typical representative of agricultural book reflecting local agricultural situation of Sichuan in Qing Dynasty,until now,there is still no systematic research that studies Zhang Zongfa and Notes of Farming on Different Kind of Land in a holistic manner;specifically,the existing researches onNotes of Farming on Different Kind of Lands are mostly limited to one certain part.In addition to carrying on research of Zhang Zongfa’s life story systematically by using relative theories and methods of history,philology and agriculture science,this paper also analyzes the edition,compiling background,content,from and other issues of Notes of Farming on Different Kind of Lands The research content of this paper can be separated into three parts.In the first part,based on predecessors’researches and existing literatures,a detailed research is carried out on Zhang Zongfa’s lifetime and books.In the second part,this paper systematically analyzes and researches the name,edition,content,form and compiling background of Notes of Farming on Different Kind of Lands by using methods applied in the research of agricultural history.In the third part,this paper summarizes and generalizes the agricultural ideology of Sanlongji,and further discusses and analyzes its agricultural achievement and modern significance. |
