Temperature is one of the most important factors of environmental quality assessment. The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of temperature on oxygen consumption?O2?,carbon dioxide production?CO2?,methane emission?CH4?,ammonia emission?NH3?,hydrogen sulfide concentration?H2S?of metabolism chamber, and environmental microbial community, plasma biochemical parameters and some harmful gas emission from faeces as well. The results showed as follow.Experiment 1:Effects of temperature on harmful gases concentration and environmental microbial community of metabolism chamber and plasma biochemical parameters of sheep:A single factor design was used with three environmental temperature range of 1015?,2025?,and 3035?.Twenty-four healthy crossbreed rams?Dorper?×Small tail Han-Yang??with similar weight?35.34±1.07 kg?were randomly divided into 3 groups,8 replicated each group. The trial lasted 17 days, including 7-d acclimation and 10-d experimentation.Rams fed at single breath metabolism chamber.During the trial period, the atmospheric and indoor O2,CO2 and CH4 concentrations were automatically recorded by the probe each 3minute.NH3 and H2S concentration was measured by samples pumped from metabolism chamber three times?11:00,14:00 and 17:00?each day.Count of E.coli, salmonella, staphylococcus aureus and total bacteria in metabolism chamber was measured at 7:00 and 18:00 daily. At the morning of 10-d,5 mL vein blood was collected from rams to determine the cortisone?CORT?,concentration of immunoglobulin?IgG?and creatine kinase?CK?and lactate dehydrogenase?LDH?activity. The results showed that the emission of CH4 and NH3 in metabolism chamber was significantly increased with the increase of temperature?P<0.01?,but there was no significant effect on CO2 and H2S emissions?P>0.05?.Count of E.coli at 3035?condition was significantly higher than others?P<0.05?.Count of salmonella and total bacteria at 3035?and 2025?condition was significantly higher than that of 1015?group?P<0.05?.The temperature had no significant effect on the adrenal corticosterone?CORT?,immunoglobulin?IgG?,creatine kinase?CK?and lactate dehydrogenase?LDH??P>0.05?.Experiment 2:Effects of temperature on harmful gases emissions from faeces:A single factor design was chosen with three temperature range,1015?,2025?,and 3035?,three repetition each group. From 4d to 7-d of experiment 1,all over of faeces were collected and mixed. Then 5 kg faeces sample was chosen as each repetition, and put them into mini metabolism chamber to measure harmful gases emission from faeces at different temperature. The trial lasted 5d.The results showed that O2 consumption and CO2 emission rose firstly and decreased soon with increase of temperature, with a peak value of 15821 mg/m3 and 17262 mg/m3 at 48 h.NH3emission at 3035? condition was significantly higher than 1015? and 2025? group by 44.03%and 40.51%?P<0.01?,and H2S emission significantly higher than that of groups by 59.84%and 34.64%,respectively?P<0.01?.
