Study On The Adaptability And Technology Of Six Sedum Plants For Vertical Greening

Abstract/Summary:
Sedum,with high aesthetic value,has excellent characteristics such as drought resistance,aphid resistance,cold resistance,a wide range of suitable habitats and the like.It plays a leading position in building the vertical greening all around the world.Based on the climatic environment of Kunming City,Yunnan Province,these study studied six species of Sedum and three kinds of stroma material of vertical greening.Main research conclusions are as follows.Through investigations in Sedum resources in market in Kunming City,the results showed that S.hispanicum,S.lineare,S.emarginatum,S.hispanicum.ver,S.dasyphyllum and S.spurium ‘Coccineum’ are widely culticated and frequently applied in the gardening.These six species of Sedum selected were used to the cultivation experiment.After 90 days cultivation,vertical projection area change,total chlorophyll content,chlorophyll a/b,fresh biomass/dry biomass,newly-developed branch fresh biomass/total biomass,light compensation point,light saturation point,photosynthetic rate,light response cure and maximal photochemical efficiency of the six samples were measured and used as the index of adaptation.Six species of Sedum were sorted according to the positive and negative correlation factor formulas.From strong to weak in order are: S.hispanicum>S.lineare > S.emarginatum > S.dasyphyllum > S.spurium ‘Coccineum’ >S.hispanicum.ver.It is recommended to use S.hispanicum and S.lineare as the main plant material for the vertical greening.S.emarginatum is suitable for vertical greening in indoor or low light environments.These study chose the peat sponge,the non-woven fabric and the bubble stone as the substrate materials which were used to the cultivation experiments of S.hispanicum.The coverage ratio of the old and new biomass,PSII and the changes in the biomass of S.hispanicum on these three kinds of new substrate materials,and the water holding capacity of the materials were measured.The experimental results showed that the adaptability of S.hispanicum on these three kinds of new substrate materials was roughly the same.The reproduction on the peat sponge is particularly obvious.The bubble stone can be used in indoor continuous irrigation systems,because the root system was most developed on it.The non-woven fabric was easy to transport and can be cut in various forms according to customer needs.Taking S.hispanicum as an example,indoor and outdoor cultivation experiment of it was carried out to explore in detail the effects of light,moisture,and nutrients in the indoor and outdoor environments on the growth of S.hispanicum.The experimental results showed that the light intensity of S.hispanicum.should be more than 2000 Lux as far as possible.The carrier water content of it should be controlled from 5 % to 20 %.The ratio of nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium diluted 1000 times was 30: 5: 25 and 30: 10: 10 have a significant role in promoting childbirth and reproduction of S.hispanicum.During the one year period,no maintenance observation experiments were conducted on the roof of the building in Kunming under natural conditions without artificial irrigation and shading.Record the growth and reproduction of 9 experimental materials,and the survival rate.The experimental results showed that the vertical greening afforestation environments of the Sedum plant species mainly studied in this experiment in Kunming City can fully realize the low-maintenance three-dimensional landscaping construction.According to the above experimental research results,this article had carried out the design practice of the hybrid vertical greening,the indoor vertical greening design practice of the Sedum plant and the production of the home planting modular plant cultivation frame.
