The wheel hub is one of the most critical safety components that bear the weight of the vehicle,and its quality directly affects the safety of the people on the vehicle.The appearance characteristics of the wheels are also the most eye-catching place with the whole car.In the context of increasing market share of sports family cars year by year,this paper aims to improve the structural design efficiency of products and reduce the cost of wheel design and development,and the design of the wheel shape conforms to the appearance style of the corresponding model.Process research and analysis.The main research is as follows:(1)Summarize the domestic and foreign research status of wheel hub design and production,introduce the positioning of various brand automobile products and the market demand for sports car wheels.(2)Explained the finite element analysis technology and Taguchi method,and made a feasibility analysis of the combination of the two for wheel hub R&D and design.(3)A brief introduction to the evolution and styling methods of the hub.At the same time,combining the study of the constituent elements,the matching of the hub styling with the car styling style,aesthetic psychology and consumer psychology,the initial plan of the hub styling design was completed.(4)Introduced the structural characteristics,material characteristics and manufacturing of the hub,and finally determined the low-pressure casting production process according to the product market positioning.(5)Three-dimensional modeling of each wheel design scheme using CATIA software,completed the finite element static analysis of each wheel by ANSYS software,combined with the finite element analysis data,designed and conducted the Taguchi method experiment.Finally,the experimental results of the finite element analysis combined with the Taguchi method are compared with the test results of the solid sample to verify the feasibility of the experiment and obtain the optimal design combination of the hub scheme from the structural strength level.This article draws the following conclusions through the above research content.In this article,taking the 2016 Dongfeng Honda-Civic as an example,the wheel specification is 7Jx17 ET45.Starting from the appearance characteristics,the design psychology and the wheel styling design method are summarized.Matching styles can better achieve the overall visual unity of the vehicle,and improve the visual comfort and recognition of the appearance of the product.According to the characteristics of the smaller the stress of the hub,the better the quality,draw the characteristic factor diagram,determine the important control factors and levels in the design process,create9 sets of wheel experimental samples corresponding to the orthogonal table L9(34),and use the expectations of the Taguchi method Small features,combined with ANSYS finite element analysis data,analyzed the signal-to-noise ratio of 9 groups of samples and plotted the S/N effect table.Finally,the key control factor that affects the structural strength of the hub under this design condition is the number of spokes.Under this experimental condition,mass production only for the optimal design scheme can reduce the test cost and time of physical samples by about 65.2%.The combination of finite element analysis and Taguchi method can shorten the development cycle and improvethe safety and stability of new products.
