As the product of transportation technology reform,high-speed railway has the basic characteristics of large volume, fast speed, safety and environmental protection.By the end of 2019,the length of China’s high-speed railway network in operation has reached 35,000 km since it was first planned in 2004.Although China’s high-speed railway construction and operation time is only more than a decade, but the high-speed railway attached to the social benefits have begun to show. The opening and operation of high-speed railway can promote the flow of regional factors of production by reducing production costs, which not only alleviates the bottleneck of railway transportation in the sustainable development stage of China’s social economy, but also has a far-reaching impact on the industrial structure and relative industrial competitive advantage of the regions along the line. This paper takes the influence of the Zhengzhou-Wuhan high-speed railway on the industrial structure and competitiveness of the regions along the route as the research object. In the part of qualitative analysis,by systematically combing the existing literature and relevant theories, this paper explores the influence mechanism of the opening and operation of the Zhengzhou-Wuhan high-speed railway on the industrial structure and competitiveness of the regions along the route. The opening of the high-speed railway operation through compression effect to reduce the production cost of time and space, breaking the original concentration and dispersion force equilibrium, prompting the enterprise production activities related to the location to choose again, and in the industrial connection effect and the investment multiplier effect formed under the influence of industry agglomeration and diffusion, the final impact on regional industrial structure and competitiveness. The quantitative analysis part takes the industrial development of the Zhengzhou-Wuhan high-speed railway as the research object, through the perspective of a comprehensive analysis from two aspects,on the one hand, the change of industrial structure analysis,in this paper, the synthetic control method was used to construct treatment group of regional industrial structure change index of "The virtual path" path, estimates of high speed railway on the treatment effect of regional industrial structure. On the other hand, the change of industrial competitiveness is analyzed. On the premise of considering the spatial connection between regions, this paper analyzes the change of industrial competitiveness of the regions along the route before and after the opening of Zhengzhou-Wuhan high-speed railway by deviating from the share space structure model.Through two methods of qualitative analysis, the main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)the opening and operation of the Zhengzhou-Wuhan high-speed railway promotes the circulation of factors and affects the industrial structure and competitiveness of regions by reducing production costs. This process is different due to the different factor endowments among regions.(2)The synthetic control method well fitted the early characteristics of some industrial structure change indexes in the treatment group, and the treatment effects of industrial structure change indexes in different regions were not the same.In general, the opening of the Zhengzhou-Wuhan high-speed railway promoted the industrial structure transformation of the regions along the line.(3)according to the change of spatial weight matrix, the opening of the Zhengzhou-Wuhan high-speed railway has strengthened the economic connection between non-central cities and central cities along the route.(4)After the opening of the Zhengzhou-Wuhan high-speed railway, the spatial competitiveness of the primary and secondary industries along the line tends to be balanced, which also makes the spatial competitiveness of the regional tertiary industry tends to be unbalanced. The central cities of Wuhan and Zhengzhou tend to differentiate in the change of spatial competitiveness of subdivided industries. Some non-central cities, such as Luohe, have formed new comparative advantages in spatial competitiveness in the transportation, storage, post and telecommunications industry, and Xuchang, accommodation and catering industry. Finally,in view of the differential effect of high-speed railway operation on the industrial structure and competitiveness of the regions along the route, the paper forecasts the coordinated development of regional industries and puts forward some suggestions.
