The form of the architecture depends on the structure and the way of construction.Organic form is a specific morphological result in architectural design.Contemporary digital technology makes organic morphological design easier to achieve,but its construction process is still expensive and difficult.Some structural systems,such as tensile membranes and shell structures,can create organic forms,but these organic forms have limitations in morphology and construction methods.From the traditional process,weaving technique is an important potential reference for constructing surface structure.Combining modern technology with traditional methods,a new weaving structure system appears,which bends and weaves elastic rods to form a stable organic surface structure.The weaving structure system has the advantages of formal expression,structural representation and construction method.The main works of this paper include the study of the basic principles of design and construction of weaving structure,and the development of the form-finding algorithms.As well,the construction methods and the design of tectonics and joints are verified in several realistic in-site case studies.The feasibility of weaving structures to build freeform surfaces was verified.
