The acceleration of urbanization and the development of technology not only improve people's living standards, but also aggravate the change of environmental. In China, mental health problems including anxiety, depression exist in a large number of urban populations.By optimizing the design method of urban green and creating the mental restorative environment as an aid to medical treatment,it provides a new way to alleviate severe mental health problems in China under the social background of irreversible urbanization.Four distinctive seasons are the intrinsic attributes of temperate climate, which will inevitably affect the appearance of urban green. So will seasonal changes affect the mental restorative potential of urban green space? What is the relationship between seasonal changes and the mental restorative potential of urban green space? What are the characteristics of the urban green space with better restorative potential? How to design the urban green space with high mental restorative potential throughout the year by avoiding the benefits to the greatest extent? These problems have not been well solved academically. In this study,10 sample sites are selected from the urban green space of Xuzhou. And it takes pictures of the sites four times in spring, summer, autumn and winter; It uses the perceived restorativeness scale to evaluate the mental restorative potential of10 samples in four seasons;According to the methods of previous studies,it quantifies the physical characteristics of landscape reasonably, and constructs the index of seasonal diversity on this basis; It uses one-way analysis of variance in SPSS 25.0 to explore whether there are differences in mental restorative potential in different seasonal sample sites; The correlation analysis and linear regression analysis are used to explore the relationship between annual mental restorative average and seasonal diversity index, the relationship between change of urban green space' mental restorative level and change degree of landscape characteristics, the relationship between annual average value of mental restorative and annual average value of landscape characteristics, and the relationship between the level of mental restorative potential and the physical characteristics of landscape in each season. The main conclusions of this research include:(1)The order of annual mental restorative potential of Xuzhou urban green space from high to low is: spring, summer, autumn and winter;(2)In the whole year, the richer the seasonal changes of the sample site, the higher the level of mental restorative potential;(3)In the pairwisecomparison group, there is positive correlation between the difference in spring-summer mental restorative level and the degree of color change of plants and the degree of change of aquatic plant coverage; In the pairwise comparison group, there is positive correlation between the difference of spring and autumn mental restorative potential and the degree of water color change;(4)There is significant linear relationship between autumn mental restorative potential and plant color;Increasing the number of plant colors can effectively improve the mental restorative potential in autumn;(5)There is positive correlation between the average value of seasonal mental restorative potential and the average value of water accessibility,Improving the accessibility of water can effectively improve annual mental restorative potential. The research conclusion of this paper provides a theoretical basis for the landscape design of mental restorative potential of urban green space in response to seasonal changes, putting forward some design methods to improve annual mental restorative potential. This paper includes 13 figures,13 tables and 136 references.
